The All-Tebow Team: 9 Athletes Who Have Been Successful With Unconventional Styles of Play

Tim-Tebow-Win

Several weeks ago Sports Pickle asked, “What should the Denver Broncos name their new Tim Tebow offense?” One of the choices was “rugby.”

Since Tebow took over for Kyle Orton as Denver’s starting quarterback, the Broncos have won 6 of 7 games. But, as any person who has cable or Internet access knows by now, Tebow is not an ordinary NFL quarterback.

Chris Paul Trade Fiasco ‘Scales of Losing’ – David Stern Edition

In one of the most bizarre cases in sports history, the NBA decided to overrule a trade involving the Lakers, Rockets, and Hornets last night for “basketball reasons.”

At about 6:30 ET, Marc Stein announced the trade:

  • LA would be getting Chris Paul.
  • Houston would be getting Pau Gasol.
  • New Orleans would be getting Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic, AND draft picks.

Less than an hour later, the NBA stepped in…and stepped in it.

Baseball Hot Stove Report: Pujols Gone, Prince Fielder and Yu Darvish Next

Do not confuse Albert Pujols with LeBron James.

Albert wound up as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals for 11 years and helped lead his team to two World Championships, the most recent being just six weeks ago.

By comparison, Prince Fielder is likely walking away from the Milwaukee Brewers after the minimum six years.

America’s Game Preview: Army-Navy Point Spread, Prediction, and TV Info

Army-Navy

Army (3-8) and Navy (4-7) will be playing for the 112th time this Saturday at FedEx Field outside of Washington DC in one of the most storied rivalries in all of college football.

These two teams are not playing for a chance to be in a bowl game as they unfortunately have losing records but instead are playing for the pride of their branch of service.  In this game you won’t find any players that will be climbing up NFL Draft boards because these players have chosen their career path…and that is to serve this country.

There is always a lot riding on this game no matter what their records are as both teams want to win the bragging rights for their branch of the military. [Read more...]

The Bottoms Line College Basketball Stock Watch

I learn something new each week from watching college basketball.

For instance, this week I learned Marquette coach Buzz Williams’ fashion sense is questionable at best.

I also learned that sometimes big games can actually live up to the hype (yeah, I’m talking to you Alabama and LSU).

And I learned that whenever there’s a game I’m really excited to watch, somehow Jimmy Dykes always ends up on the call trying to ruin it for me.

I also learned about some teams and conferences, which I’ll share in this week’s stock watch.

Albert Pujols’ Act of Betrayal Against the St. Louis Cardinals Should Not be Defended

Hypocrite

I knew the whole Albert Pujols re-signing situation was doomed from the very start.

Once Pujols started to tell the press he was open to looking at other options besides the St. Louis Cardinals I knew, in the back of my head, that Pujols was going to go against the words he spoke not that long ago.

Fantasy Football Defense Analysis: 3 To Target For Playoffs

I wanted to write this post before my weekly radio spot on Jock 98.7, which is coming up around 10:30 CT; but now, with the news about Albert Pujols taking his talents to Anaheim, I’m wondering if the fine folks of Springfield will be in any mood to talk fantasy football.

We’ll see. If they do though, I sure as hell better be prepared to give the some good nuggets. They’ll need something positive after their franchise icon bolted to the coast for the big bucks.

So here is my quick look ahead three defenses that may very well be on your waiver wire that you will want to own in Weeks 14, 15, and 16 of the fantasy football season.

College Football Playoff: Hypothesizing A 16-Team Tourney

BCS

Every season in college football there is always a strong demand for a playoff, and this year it might be one of the strongest ever.

There is no debate that LSU should be playing in the national championship game because they played an extremely difficult schedule and went undefeated.  The team that LSU is going to play, however, is creating quite a controversy.

Many people (including myself) feel that Alabama should not get another shot at a team that already defeated them for a possible national championship. Oklahoma State has a real argument that they did not get a fair shake from the current BCS system and that they should be the 1-loss team playing for the title.

If college football had a playoff this is how it might look this season. [Read more...]
