Tonight, the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers host the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in the final non-conference tuneup before Big Ten play begins next week in East Lansing.
Indiana is coming off of monstrous demolition of overmatched Howard. It could be more of the same tonight, although IU will be short-handed.

Indiana-UMBC Quick Preview
There isn’t much to say about this game, other than it will be a disappointment if Indiana doesn’t win by 30 or more. (Isn’t that nice to say again?)
Indiana is 11-0 and currently ranked #7 according to kenpom.com. UMBC is…not as good. They are 1-9 and ranked 330th. Howard, Indiana’s previous opponent, is 312th; and the Hoosiers won that game by 50+ points.
However, adding some intrigue to this game are two recent injuries suffered by Indiana. The injuries shouldn’t cause much of a problem tonight, but certainly could hinder Indiana with Michigan State, Ohio State, and Michigan up on the schedule next.
Sheehey and Elston Injuries
Derek Elston will likely miss a couple of games after having surgery to repair a broken nose. Elston took an inadvertent elbow from Victor Oladipo.
More worrisome, and mysterious, is Sheehey’s injury, word of which broke late last night after some message board grumbling. Avi Zaelon of the IDS was the first to provide confirmed details of the injury:
According to IU Athletics, Sheehey “has a left lower leg injury that he sustained in practice Wednesday and his status will be evaluated each day.”
According to the source, Sheehey thinks he “will be out for awhile.”
It’s useless to speculate right now about how long Sheehey will be out, but certainly any extended absence would be bad, bad news for IU. Zach Osterman broke that down last night.
