Ryan Braun Named NL MVP

Can you name the last Brewer to win the NL MVP award?

The answer is no one.

That is because the Brew Crew has not had an MVP award winner since Robin Yount in 1989 when they were a member of the American League. They have their first NL MVP award winner this year in Ryan Braun.

Braun put up offensive numbers that were very balanced. He had the second highest batting average in the NL at .332. He also added 33 homers and 33 steals. This offensive production helped him lead the Brewers to a division championship, their first since 1982.

Dodgers outfielder and triple crown threat Matt Kemp finished second in the voting and Braun’s teammate, Prince Fielder, finished third.

This caps off a banner year for Braun. He also signed an extension at the beginning of the year at 5 years and $105 million, which means he gets to live in Milwaukee until 2020.  This basically ensures that he will spend the rest of his career with the Brewers.
