I love sports movies. I always have, always will. Part of that has to do with loving sports so freakin’ much. So anytime I get a recommendation for a sports movie, I will usually watch it.
But Love and Basketball is NOT a sports movie.

You can’t see me right now because you’re just reading words on a screen that I typed several minutes, hours, or days ago, depending on when you see this. But as you read this, just know that I am figuratively standing at my desk applauding as the rest of this post passes before your eyes.
What can I say? I’m a sucker for class and good sportsmanship, and this is a quintessential example of both from the leaders of the Ohio State student body.

Week 12 of college football is upon us. Undefeated teams continue to fall as the season keeps chugging along.
Last week we saw Boise State narrowly lose to TCU, Oregon defeat Standford pretty comfortably, Clemson barely escape Wake Forest, Nebraska hold off Penn State, Kansas State and Texas A&M go into four overtimes, and Oklahoma State absolutely bludgeon Texas Tech.
This week we have a number of equally important matchups that will help determine who goes BCS bowling after the season. So settle down, relax, and get ready for another great weekend of college football.

Sooooo…yeah….
That’s probably how a lot of you felt after last week’s fantasy results. If you had a bad week, join the crowd.
It appears that certain defenses (the Cowboys, Titans, and others) may have finally caught up with certain offenses (Bills, Panthers, and others) after the long offseason, which led to some surprising and disappointing performances in Week 10.
But not for Aaron Rodgers owners. Never for Aaron Rodgers owners.
No worries. If you have a bad week, it’s not your fault; it was just one of those weeks. Good grief, the Chicago Bears’ DEFENSE was the number one fantasy player last week. Let’s just write it off as an off week and get back on the horse, ready for Week 11.

Chad Ochocinco has not had a good first season in New England. He has just 11 catches through 9 games, hasn’t gotten into the end zone, and has made a number of key drops in crucial situations for the Patriots.
But Tom Brady is sticking by his embattled receiver, and as Jimmy Traina pointed out on Twitter today, @Ochocinco’s Twitter avatar is all kinds of awesome.

Lockout. The Colts. Sandusky. BCS. Stevie Williams. Leinart.
With so many disappointing and/or despicable stories currently making headlines in the sports world, it’s a pretty tough time to be a sports fan. Unless you’re a cheese bra-wearing Packers fan enjoying a 9-0 season or a grass-munching super coach, chances are that your sports world is not all touchdowns and daffodils.
Which is why I’ve decided to take a few minutes to brighten up every sports fan’s day with a little bit of Love on this Tuesday afternoon.

I love basketball – but I hate the college game.
Ok, maybe hate is a strong word. I should probably just say that I find it incredibly boring and hard to watch.

It happened a bit late last night, 10:00 on the east coast, but I imagine by now the majority of you have seen or heard about Bob Costas’ interview with Jerry Sandusky on last night’s episode of Rock Center with Brian Williams.
If you haven’t, here is the interview in full. It is absolutely must-watch for anyone who has had even the slightest peripheral interest in this story (which, I assume, is pretty much everyone).

As you may have heard, the NBA and its players may be on the verge of “nuclear winter”. (Certainly that’s a better choice of words than calling this calamity of greed and ego a “tragedy”.)
But even in this dark hour, at least the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has maintained its sense of humor about the whole thing.
This is what is currently found at the NBPA website, NBPA.org:

In a sport desperate for stars, the two biggest, Beckham and Donovan, play on the same team. They get their second chance at a first title on November 20th at home (They lost their first MLS final to Real Salt Lake two seasons ago).

Well okay. After two straight weeks of being at least three games below .500, I can’t be too disappointed in an 8-7 week that featured such awful predictions as Carolina (-3) over Tennessee, the Lions (+2.5) over the Bears, and the Jets (-1) over the Patriots. Each of those games was a blowout in the direction opposite of what I picked.
So 8-7? I’ll take it. It brings me to 68-71-5 on the year, so I’ll hold out totally irrational hope that I can get back to .500 this week.

We are mere hours away from the kickoff on yet another Monday Night Football game, this one featuring the Minnesota Vikings and the undefeated Green Bay Packers, led by Aaron Rodgers and his gaudy (or is it God-y?) stat line.
So you know what that means…

As they did last time the Packers and Vikings played, Amanda Lawson and Drew Lange decided to do their game preview in the form of an entertaining, candid email exchange
Here it is.
