Can you smell that? It’s October baseball. And it’s not far off. Just a few more series to go here in September before another thrilling edition of MLB playoff baseball begins.

And one team that will certainly be around come October is the Milwaukee Brewers, which is why lifelong Brewers fan and 620 WTMJ personality Trenni Kusnierek is our guest on the latest edition of the MLB Trivia Challenge Podcast sponsored by the M&A advisors and consultants at Generational Equity, where they are experts in guiding middle-market business owners along the process of selling a business.

Jerod and Trenni take a stab at one of Ari’s more challenging sextet of questions, and then they turn their attention to Trenni’s beloved Brew Crew.

Commercial Grade: Jennifer Lopez and the Fiat 500

Email Post Email Post
jennifer lopez papi video

If you watched football Sunday, you probably saw the new Fiat commercial featuring Jennifer Lopez as often as you saw the Detroit Lions score against the Kansas City Chiefs.  Which, for those of you who didn’t watch the ineptitude of Haley’s Vomit (not the catchiest nickname, but after being outscored 89-10 through two weeks it is fitting), is a LOT.

Since football watchers are predominantly male, and men are easily excitable and are reduced to their most primal during rough-and-tumble contests such as football, it’s not unreasonable to believe that guys could be influenced by whatever they see in this exaggerated, caveman-like state of mind.

For that reason, a commercial with an attractive lady trying to sell a car seems like a perfect spot to run during football games.

Justin-Blackmon-Brandon-Weeden

This is the fourth week of the college football season and teams are beginning to distinguish themselves from the others and national title contenders are beginning to emerge.

This week marks the start of the nine game conference schedules in the Big 12 and creates some of the weekend’s best games.  The highlight of this weekend’s games features #7 Oklahoma State heading to College Station to square off with #8 Texas A&M.  This week in college football has a lot of ranked teams playing in tough games and creates some great betting lines to be profitable this weekend.

Here are my picks for the fourth week of the college football season. [Read more...]

Fantasy Football Week 3: Stats That Matter Involving Cam Newton/Steve Smith, Miles Austin/Jason Witten, and Arian Foster/Ben Tate

When I came up with the fantasy team name It’s Not A Rookie, It’s A Cam Newton this year, it was really just a play off of It Not A Cookie, It’s A Fig Newton. I didn’t realize that the Panthers were drafting a new team when they picked Newton, but the kid has been a machine.

He has not played like a rookie at all and has inspired me to look at some stats that matter and may help you make decisions this coming week and throughout the season.

Jay Cutler Dominates: Celebrating Jay Cutler’s Week 2 Dominance Against the New Orleans Saints

You would think that when the Chicago Bears lost to the New Orleans Saints 30-13 that ultra-famous and ultra-sexy Bears QB Jay Cutler wouldn’t be able to dominate.

But you couldn’t be more wrong.

In fact, I saw nothing but pure domination last Sunday.

This game winning punt return by the University of Virginia’s College of Wise (UVa-Wise) to defeat Emory & Henry in the annual Southwest Virginia Bowl is a pretty damn remarkable play.

Watch it first, including the rather entertaining spazzing out of the announcers at the end, and then we’ll break it down.

MSF Fantasy Football League Week 2 Update and Smack Talk

MSFWeek2

Welcome to Week 2 of the MSF Fantasy Football Recap. We’re going to skip over all the boring stuff this week and get right to the results.

Actually I lied. I want to take some time out to complain about fantasy football. As a Vikings fan, the news of Matt Stafford being hurt should have me excited, not scrambling to a computer. And why am I feeling bad about the Cowboys injury problems? I HATE THE COWBOYS! I would rather be a Packers fan than care about the Cowboys.

I hate fantasy football.

Photo Gallery Face Off: Alison Brie, Emma Stone, or Mila Kunis?

We’ve been writing about fantasy football and the NFL here a lot recently…a lot. And frankly, I need a little break to get recharged for Week 3. I could think of no better way to accomplish this than by dusting off an old post type we haven’t done in a while: the photo gallery face off.

Instead of just featuring two lovely ladies in this edition of the face off, I’m going with three. Why? Because it seems to me that there have been three young women who have burst into superstardom over the past year or so, who I never really hear anyone say anything negative about — which is rare in this day and age of web-anonymous negativity.

But I cannot decide whose star is shining the brightest. I’m sure you all can help me.

The three women in question are Mila Kunis, Alison Brie, and Emma Stone. Below you will find a poll, a quick recap of their recent accomplishments, and a handful of my favorite pictures of each. Have at it, and don’t forget to cast your vote! (And comment with your reasoning should you so desire.)

Viewer’s Guide: NFL Week 3 TV Schedule, Announcers, Coverage Maps, Kickoff Times, and Matchups

In Week 3 I am always interested to see how the 0-2 teams perform.

When a team is 0-2, Week 3 represents their last chance to salvage something from the beginning of their season and avoid a nearly insurmountable hole. I have no stats to back this up, but I would assume that 0-2 teams typically play some of their best, most focused, most desperate football in their quest to get that first win and make something of their season.

This is why I picked a lot of home 0-2 underdogs in my Week 3 picks. Of course, a team being 0-2 could also mean that they suck and are injury-ravaged (*cough* Kansas City *cough*) so even Week 3 desperation might not be enough.
