The trade deadline is over, and save for a few waiver deals that will trickle through over the next month we now know who will be playing where for the balance of the season.
As July turns to August, who is heating up and who is cooling down? It’s all in this week’s Fantasy Baseball Stock Market Report.
Justin Upton – OF – ARI – Over the past week, Justin was 11-23 (.478) with 4 home runs, 11 RBI’s, 2 stolen bases while raising his season average up to .304. The 30/30 club is not out of the possibility. Look for Justin to continue to swing a hot bat as he’s had 7 multi-hit affairs in the past 12 games.
Hideki Matsui – OF/DH – OAK – Hideki has been on fire over the past two weeks batting 25-51 (.490) with 3 home runs with 16 RBI’s. He’s an add in most leagues if you need average, home runs, and RBI’s as he’s batting 3rd in the Oakland lineup. Look for him to cool off in the near future but still produce some respectful stats for your fantasy team.
Dustin Pedroia – 2B – BOS – Dustin has been on fire throughout the month of July. Pedroia was 26-64 (.406), with 3 home runs, 10 RBI’s, and 5 stolen bases over the past 15 days. Ride the hot streak as his production won’t drop off much at all while sitting near the top of the order in Boston. Enjoy owning him as he is simply red hot right now, hitting .407 with 8 home runs, 20 RBI’s, 6 stolen bases, and a 1.190 OBS for the month of July.
Desmond Jennings – OF – TB – Desmond has gone 11-32 (.343) with 1 home run, 8 RBI’s, and 5 stolen bases since being recalled. He’ll continue to be a burner on the base paths since he’s leading off the lineup. His ownership has skyrocketed over 90% in the past week. The future of the Rays has been making an immediate impact and is a must add in all leagues. Enjoy the speed!
B.J. Upton – OF – TB – Bossman Junior is 7-53 (.132) with 1 home run, 3 RBI’s, and only 2 stolen bases over the past 15 days. Quad tightness is to blame for him lack of stolen bases but he has still managed to hit 16 homers and steal 23 bags on the year so far. Look for him to go 20/40 with an average around .230-.240 on the year.
Alfonso Soriano – OF – CHC – Over the past 15 days, Alfonso is 6 for 42 (.143), with 2 home runs and 6 RBI’s. Alfonso has still managed 16 home runs on the year but his inconsistency will be an average killer going forward.
Kyle Blanks – 1B/OF – SD – Since being recalled, Kyle is 2-21 (.095) with 12 strikeouts. Considering he was hitting a home run every 3rd or 4th game in Triple-A, Blanks looks overmatched and inconsistent. Look for production elsewhere.
