These would sell like hot cakes in Dallas and Cleveland

I’d like to take a moment and recognize Redditor The_Art_God for some absolutely terrific work. As the first commenter noted, “Copyright this shit immediately. You could make a lot of money with this.”

Yeah, in Dallas and Cleveland especially.

Hey Chicago Tribune, great article about the “kid-friendly” side of Ozzie Guillen…but who chose that for the picture?

ozzie-kid-friendly

I recommend that everyone read this article by Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune about White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. I think people sometimes wonder why his players love playing for him, and why most White Sox fans love Oz despite his many notorious blow-ups. This article shows a side of Oz that people in the organization and the fan base know and appreciate.

The article also delivers an unintentionally (I assume) hilarious picture choice under the headline “Sox have kid-friendly workplace”.

LeBron’s Failure All That Mattered in Cleveland

Basketball fans in Cleveland, and even those who don’t care much for the game, let out a collective sigh of relief on Sunday night following the Mavericks win in the Finals over the Heat.

Many were calling the Mavericks the “Mavaliers”, with Dirk being the favorite player of many Cavs fans. However, it did not matter that the Mavericks won the title; it was all about the failure of LeBron James.

Beginning Baseball: Is it a comeback or a lucky streak?

Editor’s note: Amanda Lawson is a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan who is getting into baseball for the first time this year. After much deliberation and counsel, Amanda settled on the Minnesota Twins as her team. With “Beginning Baseball” Amanda is documenting her first season of baseball fandom.

The Twins can win.

For all the haters out there (aka White Sox fans), the show’s not over until the fat lady sings.

But how can you tell if it’s the team making a true comeback or if it is just going through a lucky streak? From what I’ve learned about baseball, you shouldn’t get your hopes up.

Too late.

As compelling and as testy as the last fortnight has been, even drawing in some casual fans who normally do not follow the sport, it all comes to an end at some point tonight.

Bruins v. Canucks – Game 7.

For one franchise, four decades of frustration is going to result in long overdue jubilation, while another is about to experience the ultimate gut-punch.

I found this on Reddit a few minutes ago under the title “Just some guy…taking a piss.” (Notice how I cleverly came up with own completely original title?)

Yeah, and that guy just happens to be Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and that thing in his right hand just happens to be the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Is God Responsible for LeBron Not Having a Ring?

Email Post Email Post

I’ve grown accustomed to players and coaches crediting God for their success.

Kevin Durant invoked God after each of the Thunder’s Playoff wins. And I vividly recall Kurt Warner, after the Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV, taking the microphone and yelling, “Thank you, Jesus!” As a fan of the Tennessee Titans, who were one yard short of sending that game into overtime, I was upset that my Lord and Savior had been helping the opposing team.

This week, LeBron James did something that athletes rarely do: He invoked God’s will to explain a loss.

Opening up the Debate…Again: Donovan v Dempsey

Tomorrow, the U.S. national team will play their final game of group play in this year’s Gold Cup versus Guadeloupe. With a likely victory for the U.S. to abound, a greater question fans of the national team may have is, who is playing and where, and to that end, who is the most important player on the field?

Of course by position, Tim Howard may well be the best player, but it’s hard to compare goalies when only one is on show. Instead it would duly serve any fair-weather soccer fan to know whom to really watch on the field: Landon Donovan or Clint Dempsey?

MLB realignment talk heats up…and makes sense

mlb-realignment-bernie-brew

You may have never noticed, unless you really follow the MLB standings and pennant races, that baseball’s two leagues are unbalanced. There are currently 16 teams in the National League and 14 teams in the American League. I’ve taken special notice of this over the past couple years as my favorite team, the Brewers, has gotten better and vied for playoff contention.

The thing is, they are stuck in a division with six teams, the most in baseball. Luckily, talk of realignment has ramped up over the past week, which could grant the Brewers and the rest of the NL Central a much needed reprieve.

Mavericks take their talents back to Dallas with a trophy, leave plenty of lessons to be learned for the team in South Beach

In the 2006 NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks found themselves up two games on the Miami Heat, only needing two more in order to claim the franchise’s first ever NBA championship. Dirk Nowitzki was ready to make his first step into NBA greatness, Avery Johnson was beginning to look like a mad genius, and Mark Cuban was ready to add a title to his jerkish personality.
