Another epic @OzzieGuillen rant ends with an important message for God…or you…or, oh who the hell knows

If you aren’t following Ozzie Guillen on Twitter, then you are not maximizing the true value of the social media medium that has forever changed how sports are covered and consumed.

Ozzie’s latest batch of nearly incomprehensible tweets is a rather inspirational soliloquy on perseverance and belief in oneself. It’s the Ozzie Twitter account at its finest.

Beginning Baseball: Discovering the Art of Baseball Trash Talk

Kirby-Puckett

Editor’s note: Amanda Lawson is a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan who is getting into baseball for the first time this year. After much deliberation and counsel, Amanda settled on the Minnesota Twins as her team. With “Beginning Baseball” Amanda is documenting her first season of baseball fandom.

Why do people follow sports? Is it the love for a team? Maybe they appreciate the physical talent of the players. What about the passion for the game?

Those are all great reasons to follow a sport. However, there is nothing like the adrenaline rush from competition. The tension and drive during a game against a rival team brings the most exciting action and competition you will see and experience. And competition brings out the best trash talk.

And I am a champion trash talker.

Well…at least when I trash talk football; then I am the champ. Baseball is a little different, another learning curve for me. Since I am a devoted trash talker, I HAD to discover “the art” of being a baseball trash talker.

New Teen Wolf Plays…Lacrosse?

Email Post Email Post
new-teen-wolf

If you think the idea of MTV rebooting Teen Wolf as a one-hour television drama is absurd on its face, you’re right. But people had similar feelings when the WB did the same with Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997, and that turned out all right. (Sarah Michelle Gellar even answered my fan mail with an autographed photo.)

I’m not going to review MTV’s Teen Wolf, though the little I’ve seen so far isn’t as ridiculous as you’d expect. But if you’re a fan of the 1985 movie starring Michael J. Fox, you won’t recognize the 2011 Teen Wolf. MTV and executive producer Jeff Davis have made little effort to be faithful to the source material.

The werewolf gene is no longer hereditary: Scott becomes a werewolf after being bitten by one. There is no Boof character. And Scott doesn’t play basketball; he plays lacrosse.

Well you knew something like this was coming.

Michigan fans have beaten down by Jim Tressel and their rivals to the south for an entire decade, and now the time for exacting revenge is nigh.

Thanks to today’s Hot Clicks I came across the video below (via The M Zone), which is about as cleverly perfect a visual representation of Tressel’s trouble in Columns as I can imagine. Well done.

Video: The must-see documentary “I’m Keith Hernandez” that you probably (maybe) have not seen

“I’m Keith Hernandez” is one of the funniest and most enduring lines from Seinfeld.

You’ve surely seen the well-known and oft-quoted episodes of the show that featured the former Mets great, and you probably laughed quite heartily at them – especially the “Spitting Incident” episode that very well may be the greatest single episode of Seinfeld ever (though “The Contest” has a good argument too).

But have you ever stopped to think about what made Keith Hernandez such a compelling subject for the greatest sitcom of the 90s? Especially if you are not a native New Yorker, the allure of Hernandez may well have been lost on you. It was for me.

But not anymore.

I mentioned Reddit often. It’s with good reason. Reddit is one of my favorite websites, and I go there often to find the latest and greatest content being passed around the web.

Reddit can be an especially entertaining place in the immediate aftermath of a big sporting event. The aftermath of Game 4 was no different. Here are a few examples:

Video Tutorial: How to track a see pageviews by author using Google Analytics with WordPress

Email Post Email Post

For awhile now I’ve been meaning to do a screencast for our awesome team of authors here at MSF to show them how they can see their individual pageview numbers with Google Analytics. I finally got around to doing it today, but instead of just keeping it private I’m going to post it here for anyone to see because I don’t know if everyone knows how to track custom variables with Google Analytics.
