About Jon Washburn

Jon Washburn grew up in Indianapolis, IN and as such, is a diehard Pacers, Colts, and Cubs fans. When it comes to college, he cheers for Notre Dame football fan and Purdue basketball. Yes, this sounds shady, but since he grew up without cable, he learned to love Notre Dame - the only team on TV. Glenn "The Big Dog" Robinson was at Purdue when Jon was in his formative years, so he latched onto them as well. Did that make him a fair-weather fan at the time? Sure. Give him a break...he was 8...and he has stayed with those teams ever since. Currently, he lives in Charleston, SC with his wife who grew up in Cleveland. Although he is no longer physically in the Midwest, his heart will always be there. Jon goes by the name "Twitch" because he has Tourette's Syndrome. Hit him up on his twitter @The_Dr_Twitch if you ever want to argue about LeBron vs. Kobe, Peyton vs. Brady, or Reggie Miller vs. anyone.

Wonderful take on the situation. I would probably tend to agree, outside the fact that Lebron brought much of this on himself with his off-the-court image. But it does seem that he would be much better serve to play the game he wants, instead of the one we want.

Great article…and really…we need another superstar like this! He does have alot of Magic in him. The media needs to chill with the jordan comparisons and just let the dude play. Personally I didnt get to see Magic play alot, but I can imagine how dominant he could have been just watching LeBron. LeBron finds the double team well and makes plays based on teams need to double him. Its just good basketball… Its not what everyone likes to see i know. I have never really liked Lebron either…mainly because I just hated any team that comes out of Ohio (due to friends in college) but I have more respect for his game now than any other time.

Lebron as the 'facilitator'? That is nothing new…you just now realized that? Didn't you actually watch him with the Cavs. Your article was on the right-track and got derailed toward the end with your obvious revelation.

The bottom-line is Lebron's style of play will win in the regular season. However, in the playoffs when your teammates need you the most, YOU HAVE TO BE SELFISH. During crunch-time in hostile territory, your mates need to look to you and see your confidence. Not in' decision' and passivity.

    really?

This guy is another Nike colossal Michele Wie sham…..

Nike rolls out this giant advertising machine in an effort to

replace the Jordan void and you chuckle heads buy it hook line and sinker

….and he has done what? Won two MVP awards so has Steve Nash…

Led his team to the NBA finals and lost…so have dozens of other players

….he did win a state championship in high school and he was very funny on

Saturday Night Live…really really….it’s like hearing people make excuses for Obama

…..isn’t this what he signed up for….silly people

  • Joe

Sorry, you cannot be the facilitator while calling yourself "the King" with the words "Chosen One" tattooed on your back.

What a shame, he started off as such an amazing phenom and now he's an over-hyped villian wrestler.

The only stat that matters. LeBron has had only 16 FT attempts during the Finals. BRIAN CARDINAL had the same amount of FT attempts in Game 5 as LeBron. If LeBron thinks he can win a Championship by being a shooter, he is sorely mistaken. There are few better at getting to the basket than LeBron, and he won't do it. That's his problem.

You go ahead and worship "the king". I think I'll take the good guys.

Tired of people talking about Jordan already. The guy could play basketball but was a total a..hole in life. That's why Pippen to this day can't stand him. Phil Jackson never mentions him. Do you wonder why? NBA kicked him down to AA baseball due to gambling problems that would have been brought to light otherwise.

LeBron seems to be a good human being and has never talked badly about anyone that I can remember. He has great talent and regardless of what has happened so far the series is not over yet. All it will tkae is the Heat winning in 7 to sut everybody up.

I agree and disagree. I agree with the take that LeBron is not one of those players and we perhaps need to recalibrate ourselves to think of him in those terms. EXCEPT LeBron painted himself with that brush when he called himself the King and made the Decision. He wanted to be the guy with 6 titles, he said it. By definition, that means a guy with his talent set himself up for a higher standard. Now maybe when he went to go play on Wade’s team he was subtly or not so subtly telling us he felt more comfortable as an off-the-ball player, as the #2 guy. Fine. But that belies the mystique he perpetrated on the sports world. In essence, he brought this on himself. Unless, he wanted to be a #2 all along. In which case, he’s a confused player. Or maybe he hasn’t found his niche yet. Either way, no player like that gets carved into the Mount Rushmore of basketball.
