Japanese sport of Botaoshi induces WTFs across the globe

The Japanese are known for their quirky game shows and rather, shall we say, unique forms of physical competition. But the latest Japanese sport product to gain viral attention here in the States may be the most unique and WTF of them all.

It’s called Botaoshi, and while it does somewhat resemble the Butler-Connecticut National Championship game from this past April, I promise Matt Howard is nowhere to be found in the videos below.

Here is all you need to know: one team is trying to pull the other team’s pole down; and, quite obviously, no holds are barred in the pursuit of this goal.
