Sunday was a bizarre day in the NBA.

The first two games of the day featured the top two seeds in the West, the Spurs and the Lakers, and the bottom two seeds, the Grizzlies and the Hornets. The bizarre happenings had to do with the outcomes of the games, as both the Spurs and the Lakers lost the opening games in their repsective series.

After three quarters of play Saturday afternoon in Chicago, the Indiana Pacers seemed to have the Bulls locked down. Shocking a rowdy stadium and what appeared to be a mismatched series, the Bulls had work to do.

And no one works harder than Derrick Rose.

Bengals still want Palmer

Email Post Email Post

Update: Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown is still hopeful quarterback Carson Palmer will change his mind and play for the team in 2011.  Brown does not believe that Palmer is actually going to retire, so there are reports that the Bengals have refused to even consider dealing the disgruntled veteran.  Look for the Bengals to draft a QB early because there is no way they are going to be stuck with Jordan Palmer as their starting quarterback.

Hasselbeck wants to stay in Seattle

Update: Free agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is reportedly hopeful that he will be back in Seattle for the 2011 season.  "I'm definitely hopeful that I’ll be able to stay in Seattle, but at the same time I understand the first thing’s got to happen first and that’s definitely reaching some kind of labor agreement," he said.  The NFL draft should shed some light on the quarterback situation in Seattle.  Stay tuned for more as there will clearly be some suitors for the veteran QB should Seattle look to move in a different direction.

Reinfeldt signs extension with Titans

Update: The Titans have signed GM Mike Reinfeldt to a multi-year contract extension. According to Nashville Tennessean, the deal locks up Reinfeldt through the 2014 season.  It should be an interesting season in Tennessee with the dismissal of Jeff Fisher and Vince Young.

Update: According to CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco, the Redskins are looking into the possibility of trading down in the upcoming NFL draft.  Two names that interest them are FSU quarterback Christian Ponder and TCU's Andy Dalton.  Watch the Skins closely on draft day as they may move down and grab one of these two guys in an attempt to pick up more picks later in the draft.  They currently do not have a 3rd round pick in this year's draft.

Beginning Baseball: It’s Not Football–It’s BASEBALL!

Editor’s note: Amanda Lawson is a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan who is getting into baseball for the first time this year. After much deliberation and counsel, Amanda settled on the Minnesota Twins as her team. With “Beginning Baseball” Amanda is documenting her first season of baseball fandom.

Rough start. You could say that again.

After the excitement of choosing to follow the greatest team in baseball, I can’t help but feel a little down about the Twins start to the season.

It could be worse; the Twins could have a start like the Red Sox. But it could also be much better.

And it’s tearing me up. Why? One reason: my head is still stuck in football mode.

Football has been my “thing” since the beginning of my memory. However, it’s a completely different sport from baseball. Differentiating between the two is easily the biggest challenge I am having with baseball for two reasons.

The time has come once again my NBA friends!

The NBA playoffs are about to begin, and surely this is one of the most exciting playoffs I have seen in recent years. With new-look teams like Miami and New York on the prowl, we are sure to be in for a treat almost every night.

Then there are the young rising talents such as Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant, guys who are ready to prove to the NBA world that they are ready for the big show.

And let’s not forget the usual contenders like Los Angeles, San Antonio, Boston and the many other powerful teams seeking a ring!

Yes, the time has come!

And what better way to start my favorite time of year than to write and analyze each series’ matchups, advantages, disadvantages, and who I think will ultimately take it to the next round. I previewed the Eastern Conference Playoffs earlier this week. Today, we look at each first round series in the Western Conference.

Which college players are leaving and staying? Who SHOULD leave? Where will each player be drafted?

The most important question, however, as always, is which players are going to succeed at the next level?
