March Madness 2011 Daily Viewing Schedule & Links Malin Akerman Would Love

It’s morning. While you get out your favorite coffee mug, pour a glass of orange juice, and make sure you have enough milk for your bowl of cereal, get yourself back up to date with the happenings in, or at least somewhat near, the sporting universe.

The following are links that we’re certain Malin Akerman would love.

— We’re getting into Championship Week now with most of the major conference tournaments beginning today, and each day we’ll start the links with a look at the games that will have an affect on the NCAA Tournament, as Selection Sunday for March Madness continues to close in (View all of our March Madness 2011 coverage here).

Here are the important games for Wednesday:

  • The only other automatic bid in play tonight comes from the Big Sky Tournament, where Northern Colorado will take on decided favorites, if by nothing but conference affiliation, Montana, at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN2 or ESPN3.com.
  • The Big East Tournament will run the show on ESPN all day, starting at 12 p.m. EST with #19 UConn and #22 Georgetown, followed by Rutgers and #18 St. John’s at 2 p.m. EST. In the night session, South Florida faces Cincinnati at 7 p.m. EST and Marquette and West Virginia wrap up the night at 9 p.m. EST.
  • Other notable tournaments starting today include Conference USA, the Big 12 (games available on ESPN3.com), the WAC, the Mountain West, and the Pac-10 (games available on your FSN regional du jour).

Here’s a list of the auto-dancers from Tuesday. Not robot dancers, auto-dancers.

— From the LOLZ department: Tiki Barber wants to come back and he “is dead serious.” Is this the NFL’s attempt to inject some humor in between all the lockout talk? If so, it’s working.

— So, to oversimplify for my own benefit, Jim Tressel knew he was doing wrong for awhile, didn’t say anything (because he couldn’t find a recess and/or hall monitor before the lunch bell rang), and will now be suspended for Ohio State’s first two games against the high school state champions of Idaho and Nevada — the Division 1 state champions, though, I’ll have you know. Spencer Hall from Every Day Should Be Saturday did what he does with situations like these: Makes them interesting to folks like me.

I’m sorry, but coaches have been attempting to lie and keep secrets from their universities and the NCAA for awhile now, right? Was it the sweater-vests that made him seem so trustworthy? I don’t get it, I guess.

Zack Greinke really screwed the pooch when he delayed his start with the Milwaukee Brewers this season after injuring himself going up for a rebound during a pick-up basketball game. The lesson learned is never go for a rebound in pick-up basketball unless it ricochets directly at you. You need to save your legs for those ill-advised threes that you used to make in high school.

— In the NBA, the Miami Heat lost again because everyone else on that team not named LeBron James or Dwyane Wade is playing pretty terribly right now.

Also worth noting: the Portland Trail Blazers have won in Orlando (without Dwight Howard, but still) and Miami (without a real team, but still) on back-to-back nights, which is pretty damn impressive regardless.

This is why Chris Webber is probably the best NBA analyst going right now.

Happy Wednesday, bubble enthusiasts.

  1. By Cirko Barna 2012-09-20 – 11:09:43Hi, nice article, it was very helpful for me. However, I have a problem when I use ‘onmouseup’ instead of ‘onclick’: landing page appears on the original tab. If I add a &#22l6;target=”_b1ank≵‘ to the link, landing page appears both on the new AND the original tab… I would like to open the landing page on a new tab but keep the starting page on the original tab. Have you any idea for that? Thank you in advance! CirkoB Reply
