March Madness 2011 Daily Viewing Schedule & Links Abby Elliott Would Love, Including the Crying Heat and Mark Cuban-Charlie Sheen…Bros?

It’s morning. While you get out your favorite coffee mug, pour a glass of orange juice, and make sure you have enough milk for your bowl of cereal, get yourself back up to date with the happenings in, or at least somewhat near, the sporting universe.

The following are links that we’re certain Abby Elliott would love.

abby-elliottIt’s March and the beginning of Championship Week, so now this is happening:

Each day we’ll start the links with a look at the games that will affect the NCAA Tournament, as Selection Sunday for March Madness closes in. (View all of our March Madness 2011 coverage here.)

Here are the key games for Monday.

  • The West Coast Conference Tournament championship is tonight, where Gonzaga and St. Mary’s will fight for the automatic bid. The loser, as is broken down here, will spend the rest of the week cheering for the chalk.
  • VCU and Old Dominion square off in the Colonial Conference Tournament championship with ODU as the team likely locked-in for an at-large and VCU looking to guarantee a bid and push someone else off the bubble.
  • The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament championship features a very upscale-sounding match-up between the Iona Gaels and St. Peter’s Peacocks.
  • The Southern Conference will also punch it’s automatic ticket tonight, with Wofford meeting Charleston. I went to Charleston once, so I always kinda cheer for them.
  • Check out the rest of the March Madness Daily Viewing schedule here.

So there it is. More bids handed out tonight, more reasons for bubble teams in major conferences to worry, which makes those big conference tournaments later in the week all the better. Pretty great system.

Elsewhere, the Heat lost again after having a chance to win at the end again after blowing a halftime lead again, this time, to the Chicago Bulls. It hasn’t been a great weekend for the Heat, and if Ed Werder is ever gonna start following them around, it would be right about now, and that’s not a good thing. The tears aren’t comin! The tears just aren’t comin!

— The Lakers absolutely smashed the Spurs yesterday. Seriously, they were good.

— Scary moment as Chris Paul was carted off the court in a stretcher last night. He was later diagnosed with a concussion, but nothing worse.

Mark Cuban and Charlie Sheen? That just seems so obvious.

— Spring training questions of the day roll on at SB Nation, today with the Minnesota Twins.

It’s Monday of Championship Week. We should be good from here.
