Update on the All-White Basketball League

Back in January of 2010, Don “Moose” Lewis caused quite an uproar after he said he wanted to start an all-white basketball league called the All-American Basketball Alliance.
Moose was tired of the “street ball” that was played in today’s game and wanted to give fans an opportunity to watch fundamental basketball. Many people were angry with the idea and spoke out against it, including Charles Barkley, who is never shy with words and called it “blatantly racist.” Moose got a lot publicity over his idea and even had a hilarious segment on The Daily Show.
It has been almost a year now and it appears that there will be no All-American Basketball Alliance.
Bo Ryan wins ugly, but he wins…and that hasn’t always been the case at Wisconsin

I don’t have to dig too far to re-use this storyline: On Saturday, the Wisconsin Badgers have their biggest test of the season as undefeated and #1 ranked Ohio State invades Madison.
Just four months ago that backdrop worked pretty well for Bret Bielema’s football squad, which defeated the Buckeyes and eventually won a share of the Big Ten crown, earning a trip to the Rose Bowl.
Could Bo Ryan’s bunch end up following in the recent footsteps of UW football and the Green Bay Packers to spoil the Wisconsin sporting faithful even more?
Who is the greatest shooter of all-time? Reggie first, then Ray

When you really love somebody, you tend to overlook that person’s flaws. You know what I’m talking about. Sometimes, you purposefully overlook a girl’s terrible personality just because she is so incredibly hot. Other times, you are so infatuated with them that you are just completely blind to their faults.
Please don’t think that’s what I’m doing here. This is not a blind defense of Reggie Miller.
Am I a die-hard Pacers fan? Yes. Is Reggie Miller my favorite player of all time? Absolutely. Do I think he was the greatest player of all time? Absolutely not.
However, I am firmly convinced of one thing: Reggie Miller is the greatest SHOOTER of all time.

It was been a VERY long, cold, and snowy winter for nearly all of America, so whether baseball is your favorite sport or not, there has to be something about this coming weekend that warms your heart. (And no, Valentine’s Day is not until Monday). I’m talking specifically about pitchers and catchers reporting to most Cactus and Grapefruit League Spring Training sites within the next 48 hours!

I was shocked I tell you – shocked! – when I found out today that Tim Tebow, the patron saint of all that is holy in sports and life and all of mankind and humanity, was in Vegas recently partying until the wee hours of the morning. Yes. You heard that right.
…the Denver Broncos quarterback, who has cultivated a wholesome image, was clubbing until 2:30 a.m. at Surrender nightclub at Steve Wynn’s Encore.
Tim Tebow!? OUR Tim Tebow!? Out until 2:30 am!? For the love of Dan Shanoff, what is going on here!!??
But wait! Read on to the next sentence:
Sticking to water…
Ah yes, that’s the Timmy Tebow we all know and love! He might be out at 2:30 am in Vegas, but he isn’t about to succumb to the same earthly vices that everyone else in Vegas does.
This, of course, got me thinking: what would a night out in Vegas with Tim Tebow be like? And because my mind has become warped by the Internet, I decided to speculate in the form of a meme.

Update: NFL.com is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals have hired Ray Horton from the Pittsburgh Steelers as their new defensive coordinator.
Fantasy Impact: Ray Horton has coached for 17 years, and the last seven as the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive backs coach. This is a very good move for the Cards, as they went 6-10 last season, ranked 29th in total defense, 23rd in passing defense, and 30th in rushing defense. The Steelers have had one of the best defenses over the past decade, and to get Ray Horton, who has coached one of the best safeties in recent memory in Troy Polamalu, should certainly improve the play of the Cardinals defense.

Browns continue to clean house

Update: The Cleveland Browns are doing some spring-cleaning as they continue to release player after player, including three-time Pro Bowl selection Shaun Rogers.
Fantasy Impact: The Browns, under new coach Pat Shurmur, have released linebackers Eric Barton and David Bowens, defensive end Kenyon Coleman, tight end Robert Royal, and right offensive tackle John St. Claire. Rogers was slowed by injuries last season but was due to make $5.5 million in the 2011 season. After playing in 15 games last season, only starting one, and recording just 17 tackles, the Browns believed that Rogers was no longer worth the price.
Seymour to get franchise tag

Update: According to The San Francisco Chronicle, Defensive Lineman Richard Seymour is going to receive a franchise tag from the Oakland Raiders.
Fantasy Impact: Seymour was a Pro Bowl player last season with 5.5 sacks and 48 total tackles in just 13 games. He received a one year $12.4 million dollar exclusive rights deal last season, and it could be up to $15 million fro this upcoming season. This is good news for the Raiders as they were ranked 11th in total defense, and 13th in points allowed last season. Look for them to be in the top half of those stats again next season with Seymour on the defensive front.

Baseball fans are a unique lot. They’re often obsessed with statistics, and they love lists. One particular interest, especially in the era of fantasy sports, is ranking current players either versus each other or those of the past.
With this in mind, as we steamroll toward the 2011 campaign, let’s take a look at the five most overrated and underrated position players in the game today, sticking with guys who have at least three seasons in the big leagues.

Earlier today ESPN reported that the Browns had cut six players. They were Shaun Rogers, Eric Barton, David Bowens, Robert Royal, and John St. Clair. All of these players are veterans and are likely being cut to open up space for younger players.
The biggest name, obviously, is Shaun Rogers, but cutting him is a good move for the Browns.
