It’s morning. While you get out your favorite coffee mug, pour a glass of orange juice, and make sure you have enough milk for your bowl of cereal, get yourself back up to date with the happenings in, or at least somewhat near, the sporting universe.

The following are links that we’re certain Rihanna would love.

I’m a little pressed on time this morning, so my apologies for there being fewer posts than normal today. However, don’t worry; I have not forgotten about you dear reader.

I just happened upon the animated GIF below, featuring an absolutely epic treadmill fail, and damn near spat out the water I began sipping right when I saw it.

Naturally, I had to share.

Drew’s Monthly Music Recap: January/February 2011

cage-the-elephant

This is the first installment in a (hopefully) long run of monthly music posts here on MSF. I will be updating you all on new music from the previous month, what I am listening to whether it be new or old, and offer a few suggestions.

Brief background: I don’t listen to much radio. When I do it’s either AM sports talk radio or our local college station. If something is playing in my car, it is more than likely one of my 100+ CDs I keep in there.

If you are looking for posts and updates about Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, or Britney Spears, you are in the wrong place. You will find mostly indie and alt rock, maybe a hint of rap here and there.

5 Chicago Blackhawks Players Who Could Be Traded Before the Deadline

Email Post Email Post

With Jack Skille traded to the Florida Panthers, the Chicago Blackhawks made a statement saying they are in the business of negotiating.

Something needs to happen, and that’s becoming more and more apparent as the weeks go by. Inconsistency has plagued this team, and it could cost them a playoff spot.

The Blackhawks currently sit at the 11th spot in the Western Conference, three points behind the eighth seed. Making a trade, maybe even dealing a top player, might be sensible. It could be the one way shake things up and get some consistency into the team.

Here we will look at five possible players that could be dealt before the deadline.

Unlike Football, Loss to Wisconsin Does Not Hurt Ohio State’s Title Hopes

The Ohio State Buckeyes lost their first game of the season yesterday, and it came against the Wisconsin Badgers. The same thing happened this past season to the OSU football team, who received their first loss against Wisconsin. I was reminded of this fact at least five times by ESPN during the telecast of the game.

ESPN made a huge deal of the fact that the Badgers ended the perfect seasons of both the Ohio State football and basketball teams. One key side-note is that both losses came in Wisconsin. Also, both Wisconsin teams were ranked and among the top teams in the nation, so it’s not like OSU had lost to a Western Kentucky-caliber team.

Luckily for the Buckeyes basketball team, unlike the football team, one loss will not at all hurt their chances for a national championship.

From a Packers Fan to Steelers Fans: Thank You For Being Such Good Sports

I am a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan and just want to let everyone know that having your team win the Super Bowl is even sweeter when the opponent has a strong fan base as well.

And when that opposing fan base is as classy as Steelers fans were before Super Bowl XLV, and as gracious as they have been since, it makes the experience even more rewarding and special for the victors.

Ravens pick up WR Jones

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Baltimore Ravens have signed WR Brandon Jones, formerly of the Seahawks.  Jones was released by the Seahawks last year, and did not latch on with another team.  He tore his ACL back in 2005, and seems to have lost his talent.  He certainly isn't the answer for the Ravens.

Niners won’t bring back Troy Smith

Update: The 49ers are not expected to make re-signing free agent Troy Smith a priority this offseason.  Smith is still relatively young, but he has not shown the ability to lead an offense at the NFL level.  The 49ers may keep Alex Smith in the mix, but expect this team to be hunting for a QB come draft day.

McNabb not the answer

Update: NFL Network’s Albert Breer was told by sources that Donovan McNabb will be viewed as a stopgap starter once he hits the open market. “He’d be a short-term starter,” said the AFC exec. “You’d do it for 1-2 years until you find a long-term solution at the position.” The executive added that McNabb “has been a systematic player in his career.”
