As we know, the Super Bowl is the most viewed television event in the world every year. People across the world, many of whom never watch a regular season football game, tune in for the Super Bowl.
Sure, the purists among us are excited about this year’s Big Game matchup between two of the NFL’s most historic teams, the Steelers and the Packers, but many people watch for the commercials, or the halftime show, or the pomp and circumstance, or because they’re at a party, or simply because it’s the Super Bowl!
But not these folks. Something tells me they probably could not care less who wins the Lombardi Trophy.

I know it’s not sports related, but pretty amazing video huh? It is simply mind-boggling that in this age of connectivity, there exist small groups of people who have never been contacted by anyone outside of their small tribe of indigenous people. I sat and watched that video in jaw-dropped amazement, which is why I wanted to share.
Tomorrow, when the announcers talk about how many people are watching worldwide, remember that there are people who don’t even know what the Super Bowl is…or what football is…or what TVs are…or what electricity is…or, well, what anything is that you and I take for granted every day. Incredible.
And for what it’s worth, I agree with the sentiments of the man featured in the video. Let these people be. Even if we do not understand anything about them, these people are an earthly treasure and a direct link to our distant past. Preserve their way of life. Once taken, it can never be given back.
