It wasn’t pretty, but the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears 21-14 in Soldier Field for the right to play in Super Bowl XLV.

The Packers scored on their very first drive of the game, with Aaron Rodgers carving up the Bears’ defense like a surgeon, and the game was essentially even from that point on with Green Bay holding on to win after after a wild 4th quarter.

An interception by Sam Shields late in the 4th quarter, with the Bears driving for a tying score, clinched the game for Green Bay.

Cutler pulls himself

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jay Cutler left Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Packers in the third quarter with a knee injury.

Fantasy Impact:  Cutler played the first drive of the second half and them removed himself from the game.  He led seven drives, on the day and the offense had six punts and one interception.  This is another example of the lack of heart Jay Cutler shows.  It is a flat out disgrace that he pulled himself from this ballgame.

Palmer wants out of Cincy

Update: Carson Palmer will demand a trade from the Bengals, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. According to Mortensen, Palmer is willing to "play the retirement card" if he doesn't get his wish.

Fantasy Impact: Palmer is due to make $11.5 million next season and there is no way he is going to pass up that money, especially given he has continued to decline in production.  Palmer is certainly an aging veteran and would be foolish to take this stance as the market for his services would be slim.

Pats need Mankins back

Email Post Email Post

Update: Patriots beat writer Mike Reiss does not have a good read on whether or not LG Logan Mankins will re-sign this offseason.

Fantasy Impact:  Mankins held out this past year until November, and proved that the Pats are in dire need of his services as a run blocker.  Look for the Pats to try to re-sign Mankins and be more willing to cough up some dough to get it done.

In 2008, Nike produced a commercial directed by David Fincher that traced the football lives of LaDainian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu from the womb all the way to meeting one-on-one on the football field. It is one minute and one second of drama and intensity, and easily one of the best football commercials ever.

Want to get hyped for today’s AFC Championship Game between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers? Or just for football in general? Watch this video:
