Gonzalez may retire

Update: Ken Sugiura of the Journal-Constitution reports that Falcons tightend Tony Gonzalez says that retirement is a "possibility." "Year 15 is a long time," said the All-Pro tight end.

Fantasy Impact:  Given the fact that the Falcons will be a contender year in and year out, it would be a shock if Gonzalez didn't give it at least one more season.

Top Ten Nicknames in the NFL

I love nicknames.

They’re funny, cooler then regular names, and sometimes you can can tell a lot about someone from their nickname. Hell I think I like them more then this guy.

The NFL has had a history of great nicknames, such as: Broadway Joe; Prime Time; and Mean Joe Greene. Even though I don’t think this generation’s nicknames stack up to previous ones, I still think some are pretty good.

In this post, I highlight my ten favorite nicknames of current NFL players.

Ivory the future in New Orleans

Email Post Email Post

Update: Saints beat writer Jeff Duncan refers to running back Chris Ivory as the Saints' "back of the future."  This is all dependent on Ivory being able to stay on the field.

Fantasy Impact:  Ivory may or may not be ready for training camp in 2011.  He is a solid back, but needs to find a way to keep himself on the field if he wants to play a major role in the Saints offense moving forward.

Brady banged up in loss

Update: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a bruised shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Jets, according to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.

Fantasy Impact:  Brady and the Pats have now lost three playoff games, and get upset at home yet again.  The Pats clearly exceeded expectations this year, and with a slew of picks in the early rounds of the draft, expect this team to be back and ready to play.

McGahee likely done with Ravens

Email Post Email Post

Update: Baltimore Ravens running back Willis McGahee is unlikely to be back with the team next season unless he takes a "drastic" pay cut, according to the Carroll County Times.

Fantasy Impact:  McGahee is due $6 million next season and has 3 years remaining on his deal.  Ray Rice has clearly taken over the reigns in Baltimore so expect Willis to find work someplace else and at a much lower price.
