It’s morning. While you get out your favorite coffee mug, pour a glass of orange juice, and make sure you have enough milk for your bowl of cereal, get yourself back up to date with the happenings in, or at least somewhat near, the sporting universe.
The following are links that we’re certain Sofia Vergara would love.

The Boston Celtics, behind a near-perfectly executed fourth quarter of offense, won their first regular season meeting with their old Finals friends, the Los Angeles Lakers. Boston just looked sharp (though L.A.’s retro unis were pretty snazzy too) and Los Angeles, as has been the theme of the season, struggled with consistency. And while much of the talk will probably be about the Lakers’ deficiencies, the Celtics on this day did whatever they wanted and did it well.
– The early ABC national game was an entertaining toss-up between the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder, with the real noise following Miami’s 108-103 win, when Kevin Durant had some choice words for Chris Bosh. Durant doesn’t often veer from the “play hard, play as a team, do your part” rhetoric, so for him to speak out so pointedly against any opponent was a refreshing surprise from the NBA scoring leader.
The fact that it was Bosh he was speaking about, who has, especially during the early portion of the season, been viewed as the weak link and tag-along in Miami’s basketball experiment, shouldn’t be a huge shock. In KD’s relatively early life of media call-outs, Bosh was probably a good, understandable starting place. That Bosh could annoy Durant to the point that he actually spoke out is the real surprise here.
– With the team seeming to be constantly scuffling, Jim O’Brien is gone as the Indiana Pacers head coach. Larry Bird knows what you’re thinking, but it’s not happenin’.
– Excellent read on college basketball’s premier color man, Bill Raftery and his tedious preparation for the games he covers. Also, by “pops” he means whiskey, but that’s just a guess.
– The Texas Longhorns: still undefeated in the Big 12 play. And Kansas, thanks in part to the return of Thomas Robinson, won their in-state showdown with Kansas State.
– Super Bowl: Lots of Pittsburgh Steeler/Green Bay coaches connections are intertwining, and the Packers don’t hate playing indoors. If it’s going to be crappy in Dallas as it sounds like it could be this Sunday, I don’t think anyone will.
– The highlight on the bottom of this post tells you everything you need to know about the Pro Bowl and its current status.
Blissfully preparing for another Snowpocalypse. Yay.
