Fantasy Football Week 16 Start / Sit Picks

Email Post Email Post

As I mentioned in the Week 16 waiver wire sleeper picks column, it’s a good thing the P&G-sponsored Blogger Fantasy Football League* was not my only league. I made the playoffs in three other leagues, which gave me plenty of incentive to keep working hard doing the research it takes to write these columns and answer questions all week.

And luckily, despite having some bad matchups and making a few bad decisions, I was able to advance to the championship round in one of my leagues. Considering that it’s the league I’ve been in the longest – damn near a decade now, with some of my best friends – you can bet I’ll be overturning every stone to find an advantage. (Of course, when you have Tom Brady at QB and Michael Vick for an any-position flex spot, it’s not really that difficult….)

The Greatest Music Video Hits of Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island (and your choice for #1)

Email Post Email Post
andy-samberg-videos

Auto-Tune the News. Louis CK. Zach Galfianakis. Andy Samberg music videos. What do all of these things have in common? They consistently entertain me and make me laugh. And this weekend a new video was added to Samberg’s (really, The Lonely Island‘s) growing vault of musical comedic genius.

Since we love compiling things, ranking them, and voting on them here at MSF, this seemed like the perfect time to present the best of Samberg’s videos and then let you decide which one is the best.

Fantasy Football Week 16 Sleepers

Email Post Email Post

As you know, I was eliminated from the P&G-sponsored Blogger Fantasy Football League* last week. Luckily I played in six leagues this year, making the playoffs in four of them, and giving me plenty of motivation to stay up on the latest in the fantasy world.

With the carnage of Week 15 now settling in, it looks like I will have one team advancing to the championship round. While I’d like to have more than one chance at a title, if I was going to pick a league to win other than the P&G league, it would be this one. It’s the league with all my college friends that I’ve been in for close to 10 years now. Major bragging rights are on the line!

So as we look forward to Week 16, I know that there will be less of you reading these articles, but I also know that the stakes are as high as possible, so I’m not skimping on the research, recommendations, or Q&A.

T.O. lost for season after injury

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Bengals WR Terrell Owens has suffered a torn left meniscus. Owens left Sunday's game early and had to be carted off the field. His season is over. Owens had a very good year, considering his age (38) with 72 catches, 983 yards and 9 TDs.

Fantasy Impact: This injury downgrades Carson Palmer and Chad OchoCinco for the rest of the season. Now the Bengals are even worse on offense without their top WR. Owens has said he would like to come back an dplay another season in the NFL. It remains to be seen whether that will be with the Bengals or not. Owens has had a reasonably quiet season this year with no major outburts.

Eagles score 28 in the final 7:28 to comeback and beat Giants

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Philadephia Eagles have come back to win their NFC battle against the Giants 38-31. Desean Jackson returned a punt for a TD with :00 seconds left on the clock. The Eagles scored 28 points in the final 7:28 to complete the season sweep over the Giants.

Fantasy Impact: After a very poor first half, especially for Mike Vick, the Eagles exploded in the 2nd half. The Eagles outscored the Giants 35-7 in the 2nd half. Vick ended with 4 total TDs and Desean Jackson continues to have his big game plays. Jackson did not have his best game today, but the punt return erased that memory.

Brown and Manning lead Colts to huge win

Email Post Email Post

Update: Peyton Manning and Donald Brown both had big games today in their win against the Jaguars. Brown filled in for an injured Joseph Addai scoring a TD and over 100 yards on the ground.

Fantasy Impact: Donald Brown has not been having a good season at all. He has started the last few weeks and hasn't produced. He and Manning had one of their best games of the season in the biggest game of the year for both the Colts and the Jags.

Eagles rookie S Allen out for year after injury

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that the injury Nate Allen suffered today was a torn patellar tendon in his knee. Allen was carted off the field in the 1st half of today's game after he slipped on the turf field in NY.

Fantasy Impact: Kurt Coleman has taken over for Allen and will likely for the rest of the season. Allen is likely out for the year and most likely won't be ready by next season. Allen finished his rookie year with 3 INTs. Allen had a very good season as a 2nd round pick and looks like a long term replacement for Brian Dawkins.

Austin Collie leaves game with another blow to head

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Colts WR Austin Collie has left the game today with another apparent head injury. Collie was hit in the head and was down on the ground for awhile afterwards. Collie suffered a concussion earlier this week and it took him awhile to come back from that.

Fantasy Impact: Collie had a days worth of fantasy points before he went down with his injury. He had over 80 yards and 2 TDs. It looks like Collie will be out for at least this game again with another concussion. If it is a concussion, his status for the playoffs is certainly in the air if the Colts make it there.

T.O. leaves game with knee injury

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Bengals WR Terrell Owens has left Sunday's game with a knee injury is the 1st quarter. He hobbled off the field pretty noticeably. His return is questionable.

Fantasy Impact: This could be an aggravation of his leg injury that kept him out of practice all week. If it is, it's not a good sign for the Bengals and Carson Palmer. Also it can't be a good sign for fantasy owners of either of these two players. It could cost their teams the playoffs.

Colts RBs Addai and Hart out

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Fantasy Blitz on Sportingnews.com is reporting that Colts RBs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart are both inactive for today's contest against the Jaguars.

Fantasy Impact: It's unfortunate for the Colts that both are out because this game may decide whether or not the Colts make the playoffs or not. The Jaguars have come on strong in the second half of the season and are looking to somehow sneak into the playoffs. Donald Brown gets another start for the Colts and he has not proven anything. The running game with Brown has been pretty much non-existent. Peyton Manning has to have himself a good game in order to get the team a win.

Eagles OT Justice inactive

Email Post Email Post

Update: Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Eagles OT Winston Justice is inactive today. Justice had been listed as questionable all week with a knee injury.

Fantasy Impact: King Dunlap is expected to replace Justice in the starting lineup. He will be given the role of protecting Mike Vick's blind side against a very tough NY Giants defensive line. Expect Vick to be pressured a lot. He will most likely be forced out of the pocket, which could end up benefiting him. The Giants had a good gameplan against him in their last contest and were able to contain Vick and his legs pretty well.

Roy Williams likely Out

Email Post Email Post

Update: Fox Sports' John Czarnecki is not expecting Roy Williams (groin) to be active on Sunday against the Redskins. Fantasy Impact: Roy Williams has not had his best string of games with Kitna under center. This is actually a good thing for the Cowboys because he has become more of a liability then a play maker this year with the boys.

Cassel should start

Email Post Email Post

Update:
John Clayton reported on ESPN on Sunday morning that Matt Cassel will likely be the Chiefs’ starting quarterback against the Rams today.

Fantasy Impact:
Matt Cassel is just 11 days removed from an emergency appendectomy. Although playing is still risky, he knows the importance of today’s game against the Rams. A win today puts his team just one win and a chargers loss from claiming their first division title since 2003. Expect Cassel to be behind center come game time.
