Cards haven’t named starting QB

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt still hasn't named the team's starting quarterback for next week. The two options are rookie QB John Skelton and newly signed QB Richard Bartel, both of which took first team reps at practice. QB Derek Anderson is still recovering from a concussion and QB Max Hall is on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Impact: The Cardinals quarterback situation is the primary reason for their offensive problems this season. No Cardinals quarterback is worth anything in terms of fantasy and owners of Cardinals receivers may want to think about benching them this week as well.

2010-11 College Football Bowl Games TV Schedule and Point Spreads

Email Post Email Post

The college football bowl season is finally upon us, bringing even more exciting college football games as December turns into Christmas, and then Christmas turns into 2011.

As you probably know, Oregon and Auburn will be playing for the National Championship. Both teams are very deserving and their offenses should give us a one hell of a great game.

Picking marquee match-ups during bowl week is an impossible task. Every game could be considered a marquee match, though the bigger bowls tend to be more watched. My advice to you is to watch as many as games as possible. You’re getting to see some very well played football games (for the most part) with the best teams in the country.

QB Cassel doesn’t practice

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel misses practice Wednesday with an undisclosed illness. Head Coach Todd Haley wouldn't discuss Cassel's availability to play next week.

Fantasy Impact: Cassel is one of the primary reasons for the Chiefs success this season. Not to mention WR Dwayne Bowe is having the best year of his career due to Cassel's performance. Keep a close eye on him throughout the week as he is a solid starting quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

RB Bradshaw misses practice

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw missed practice Wednesday with a wrist injury. Head Coach Tom Coughlin said that he will give an update on Thursday on the severity of the injury and the possibility of Bradshaw playing next week.

Fantasy Impact: Bradshaw has been a solid fantasy option at running back all season long. He gets the majority of the carries over RB Brandon Jacobs and is even getting more goal-line carries. Monitor his status throughout the week as he is a number two fantasy option at running back.

The NBA Morning After: Nice Pairings Edition

Email Post Email Post

The Morning After is a look at the night that was in the NBA along with other NBA-related fodder.

– Some of the Atlanta Hawks put up some ridiculous numbers in their 116-101 win over the New Jersey Nets: Sixth man du awesome Jamal Crawford poured in 26 points on 17 shots and Al Horford dropped 24 points, 10 boards and six assists.

However, it was Josh Smith who won the gold star, getting 34 points and seven assists while shooting 14-of-16 from the field. Remember, he’s shooting jumpers again too, making it, for one night, all the more impressive. But his outside shooting ventures remain, like a Skyhawk in flight, ultimately fleeting.

Fantasy Football: Why Tashard Choice is Fantasy Playoff Gold

Email Post Email Post
NS_07ChoiceRUN

Every year there is a player who emerges late in the season to propel a mediocre team to fantasy football championship around the world…

Hey, remember Jerome Harrison? You probably do if you had him on your fantasy team… I sure as hell do seeing as he single-handedly knocked me out of the playoffs last year.

So maybe you just snuck into the playoffs or you’re a good team who happens to have some brutal match-ups (i.e. Cedric Benson against the Steelers) – well you’re in luck because you have a Choice – crash out the playoffs in a blaze of glory or make the only logical Choice there is – add Tashard.

Bettor’s Guide: NFL Week 14 Picks, Point Spreads, and Over-Under Odds

Email Post Email Post

Update: The spreads for the Patriots and Jets games are now posted, as are my picks. Still waiting on two more spreads to go up.

As I good as I was last with with my 10-4-1 record against the spread, that’s damn near how bad I was this week.

Like the New York Jets on Monday Night, Week 13 represented my worst performance of the season. I went 6-9. It was just the fourth time all year that I have been below .500 in a week and the first time I was more than one game under .500.

I say we don’t watch the tape of Week 13 and just move forward to the Week 14 slate. Does that work for you? At 99-75-8 on the year, I’ve still done pretty well overall going with my gut feeling early in the week. I’m not changing anything up now.

Viewer’s Guide: NFL Week 14 TV Schedule and Announcer Assignments

Email Post Email Post

Boy, that Patriots-Jets game sure lived up the billing, huh? Umm, no. At least the Ravens-Steelers was competitive until the end, although I don’t think we saw a lot of particularly good football played in that one.

The Week 14 schedule does not possess any matchups with the immediate appeal of those two, but there are still some pretty interesting games. Indianapolis-Tennessee on Thursday night is huge for the Colts, and New England-Chicago is suddenly a potential Super Bowl preview (hey, have only lost three times!). And Kansas City-San Diego is a make-or-break game in the AFC West.

See below for the entire Week 14 NFL schedule and all of the announcer assignments.

QB Smith named 49ers’ starter

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have named QB Alex Smith as the team's starter for next week. Smith had started up until week seven where he suffered a shoulder injury. QB Troy Smith had been the team's starter up until now.

Fantasy Impact: Smith has been inconsistent throughout his entire career and he will most likely be unable to peform on a high level. The 49ers as a team have been extremely disappointing this year and Smith won't turn things around. Continue to ignore him in all fantasy leagues.

Colts sign RB Rhodes

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that the Indianapolis Colts have signed RB Domin Rhodes. Rhodes played for the Colts from 2001-08 and had been playing in the UFL. He tore his ACL in 2002 and his performance hasn't been the same since.

Fantasy Impact: Rhodes will only see the field if all the other running backs can't go, which is a possibility since they are all dealing with injuries. The Colts are currently going through offensive problems especially running the ball. He should be picked up only in very deep fantasy leagues.

QB Hall placed on IR

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that Arizona Cardinals QB Max Hall has been placed on IR due to a shoulder injury sustained in week 13. Hall and QB Derek Anderson have been rotated in and out on the starter's spot throughout the season.

Fantasy Impact: Anderson had won back the starter's job, so Hall had no fantasy value. This can be ignored in most fantasy leagues as he wasn't a good fantasy option anyway.

TE Miller listed as doubtful

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heathe Miller has been listed as doubtful for next week with a concussion. Miller suffered the concussion in Sunday's night game against the Baltimore Ravens when he was hit while trying to catch a pass and didn't return to the game.

Fantay Impact: Miller still needs to pass neurological exams before being allowed to return to practice. Until news breaks of him passing the tests, he has zero fantasy value. Keep an eye on him throughout the week but have a tight end to replace him as he will most likely miss next week at least.

Broncos fire Head Coach Josh McDaniels

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that the Denver Broncos have fired Head Coach Josh McDaniels Monday. McDaniels was released not even halfway through his contract after a videotaping scandal and the franchise's worst skid in forty years. Running backs Coach Eric Studesville will take over as head coach for the remainder of the season.

Fantasy Impact: McDaniels becomes the third head coach fired this season, joining Wade Phillips and Brad Childress. The Broncos have been disappointing this year after a good start, and it isn't too big of a surprise that he was fired. This can be ignored in terms of fantasy.
