Brandon Marshall is active today

Email Post Email Post

Update: Sportingnews.com is reporting that Miami WR Brandon Marshall is active and will play today against the Jets. Marshall has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Jets won't put Darrelle Revis on Marshall. Instead, he will get Cromartie. This would be an interesting matchup for Marshall. Cromartie's seen Marshall plenty of times when they were both with their former teams. Rain and a soggy field is likely to play a huge role in today's game however. It should be low scoring.

Pierre Thomas is back for Saints

Email Post Email Post

Update: Sportingnews.com is reporting that Saints RB Pierre Thomas is active for today's game against the Rams. Thomas has only played in 3 games this year due to a severe ankle injury.

Fantasy Impact: Thomas likely won't get thrown back into the Saints backfield too quickly after missing so many weeks. I expect him to get 5-10 carries today to get back into game shape. Reggie Bush and Chris Ivory have been carrying the load in Thomas' absence. This is great news for Saints fans as Thomas can ease his way back into the lineup right before playoffs start.

TE Gates inactive again

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rich Eisen of the NFL Network is reporting that Chargers TE Antonio Gates is inactive today against the Chiefs. Gates hasn't practiced this week and has been struggling with his foot injury the entire season.

Fantasy Impact: This is big news for owners of Gates in playoffs week. Gates owners should've had a backup plan for this week in case he couldn't go, so that plan B must go into effect. His backup Randy McMichael would be a good play if he is available.

Top 2 Seattle WRs OUT

Email Post Email Post

Update: The ESPN NFC West blog is reporting that Seattle WRs Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu are inactive for today's game. Williams is out with a foot and ankle injury and Obomanu is out with a hand injury.

Fantasy Impact: Ben Obomanu was labeled as likely to play just yesterday so it's unfortunate for his owners. Williams looked doubtful after not practicing all week. If you have Matt Haselbeck playing, bench him now. It will be a rough game without his top two WRs.

Rodgers suffers concussion; done for day

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has been knocked out of the game against the Lions with a concussion. He will not return. This is Rodgers 2nd concussion of the season.

Fantasy Impact: If you were relying on Rodgers for your fantasy playoffs, it is unfortunate. Rodgers finished with 46 yards passing and an INT (which wasn't his fault). Rodgers wasn't knocked out cold so that's a good sign to whether he could play next week. Matt Flynn has taken over for Green Bay.

Favre doubts he’ll play

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to a report from USA Today, Brett Favre said he doubts that he'll be able to play tomorrow night in Detroit. Favre's status has been up in the air all week due to his injured throwing shoulder. Favre has started 297 straight games.

Fantasy Impact: The game between the Vikes and Giants has already been pushed back a day and now it has moved to Detroit. The one day of extra rest will certainly help Favre, but will it be enough? Favre is doubting himself, but something tells me he's going to be out there in the end. A true game time decision is still likely.

McNabb on short leash today

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that Washington is preparing Rex Grossman to play today if Donovan McNabb struggles. Glazer said Kyle Shanahan informed his staff. Reps were being split by both QBs.

Fantasy Impact: McNabb so far has started good in the game today throwing for a TD and completing 9-12 passes. McNabb has also been helped by the superb return of RB Ryan Torain who has 139 yards, and we're not even through the first half yet. Still watch this game and see if it stays close til the end.

Roddy White should have big day

Email Post Email Post

Update: Adam Schefter is reporting that Panthers CB Chris Gamble is inactive today against the Falcons. Gamble was slated to cover one of the top WRs in the NFL today in Roddy White. Look for White to have a big day today against a fill in on a weak Carolina defense.

Fantasy Impact: White is averaging almost 100 yards per game this season, and that is with three straight sub par weeks for him. White has had a knee injury, but it hasn't kept him out of any games so far so that could have been affecting him the past three games. He was a full participant in practice this week so he should be at full strength against a weak Carolina D.

Jamaal Charles signs extension

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jason LaCanfora of the Nfl Network is reporting that the Chiefs and RB Jamaal Charles has agreed to a contract extension. It's a five year deal worth $32.5 million and $13 million guarenteed. Charles was in the final year of his rookie contract.

Fantasy Impact: This is a good sign for Chiefs fans as Charles will be in a Chiefs uniform for that much longer. He has had a great year so far, rushing for over 1000 yards already. That number is even more impressive when you look at his carries. He has split time with Thomas Jones the entire year. Charles is leading the NFL with an eye opening 6.2 yards per carry.

Metrodome roof collapses

Email Post Email Post

Update: Nfl.com is reporting that Metrodome, the Viking's home stadium, has partially collapsed after very heavy snowfall across the region. The domed roof collapsed this morning after 15 inches of snow fell yesterday. The stadium won't be repaired and ready in time for the Monday Night game that was scheduled to be played between the Vikings and the Giants.

Fantasy Impact: Obviously, this game will be played, but where? The University of Minnesota Stadium is an option, but it's going to be 10 degrees below zero Monday. It's kind of ironic and analyst Rich Eisen said it, that even mother nature is helping out Brett Favre. Favre may get an extra day or two of rest for his ailing shoulder.
