Key defensive players banged up for Eagles

Email Post Email Post

Update: Nfl.com is reporting that Eagles defensive players Asante Samuel, Antonio Dixon, and Jaqua Parker are all listed as questionable for their 1st place matchup against the Bears Sunday. All were held out of practice Friday.

Fantasy Impact: Asante Samuel leads the team in INTs and is a game changer. Samuel is known for his jumping of routes and getting key takeaways in key moments of the game. The Eagles could very well sit Samuel to have him healthy enough to play next week when they play Andre Johnson and the Texans. Dixon could be an even bigger loss for the Eagles believe it or not. Ever since Dixon entered the starting lineup, the Eagles have sured up their run defense. The Eagles currently ranked 8th in the league in run defense.

Reggie Wayne Questionable

Email Post Email Post

Update: Nfl.com is reporting that Colts WR Reggie Wayne is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Wayne had missed practice on Thursday, but was a participant today in practice.

Fantasy Impact: Expect Wayne to be on the field Sunday night. This knee injury shouldn't keep the Colts leading WR out of a very important game for both teams. It's now the 2nd half of the season and the Chargers are on their annual run going into the playoffs. Wayne is a must start on any team. He is quietly having another Pro Bowl season.

TE Gates misses practice, listed as questionable

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates missed practice Friday and is officially listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Gates has missed the past two games due to the injury. The Chargers play the Indianapolis Colts next week.

Fantasy Impact: With the way QB Phillip Rivers is playing and topped with the fact that the Colts defense is still banged up, Gates would probably put up good fantasy numbers next week. Monitor his status over the weekend and if he plays, he should be in all fantasy lineups.

Andre Johnson "looks like old self"

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson "looks like his old self" after playing hurt for several weeks with an ankle injury. He is currently listed as probable on the team's injury report.

Fantasy Impact: Johnson will be going up against the Tennessee Titans defense next week, a team that he has averaged 144.7 yards per game against in their past three meetings. He is a must-start receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Rams WR Alexander will be game-time decision

Email Post Email Post

Update: STLtoday.com is reporting that St. Louis Rams WR Danario Alexander, who recently knee surgery four weeks ago, will be a game-time decision. Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo said that he hopes to have Alexander on the field on Sunday, but he has to make sure Alexander is healthy enough to play first. The Rams take on the Denver Broncos next week.

Fantasy Impact: The Rams have one of the worst groups of wideouts in the NFL so Alexander would help young QB Sam Bradford spread the field. However, it is still to be determined if he will play or not and even if he does he probably won't put up great fantasy numbers anyway. Continue to ignore him in all fantasy leagues.

Roddy White practices in full

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White practiced in full on Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. White had been suffering from a knee injury that kept him out of practice, but he hasn't missed any playing time.

Fantasy Impact: White hasn't missed a game in six seasons with the Falcons and it looks like that streak won't come to an end just yet. White is having arguably the best season in the NFL for wideouts, so he is a must-start in all fantasy leagues.

Eagles might rest CB Samuel

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles might rest CB Asante Samuel who has an aching knee. The Eagles play the Chicago Bears next week, the second game in five days, and Head Coach Andy Reid is considering resting him in case of further injury. He is officially listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

Fantasy Impact: The Eagles don't get much time to rest, so it may be smart for Reid to sit him this week. However, the Bears are starting to come together on offense so his presence may be needed in order for the Eagles to win. Either way, the Eagles DST are a solid start in fantasy lineups.

QB Clausen cleared to play

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that the Carolina Panthers have cleared QB Jimmy Clausen to play following a concussion. Clausen will most likely get the start next week against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Impact: Now that Clausen and RB Jonathan Stewart are back on the field, the Panthers have a good chance to win against the Browns. Still, Clausen has little fantasy value as he has yet to get a win in the NFL and won't be able to put up huge fantasy numbers since he doesn't have much to work with. Look for QB help elsewhere in fantasy leagues.

The Ohio State University is 43-57-6 all-time versus the Michigan Wolverines, but are 8-1 under coach Jim Tressel.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez may have saved his job sitting at 7-4 before the last game of the year, but unless they can pull off the upset over Ohio State confidence among the Wolverines fan base will remain very low. The Buckeyes, on the other hand, need the win for at least a share of the Big Ten title and a possible BCS bowl bid.

The 107th meeting between Ohio State and Michigan this year is the first ever game to take place after Thanksgiving, a with this being the most competitive team Michigan has fielded since Rich Rod was hired almost 3 years ago, there is hope that we could have a close, entertaining game.

McCoy to be 3rd QB

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini said QB Colt McCoy (ankle) could be available to be the No. 3 quarterback in Week 12, reports Mary Kay Cabot, of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Fantasy Impact:
The Browns have already announced that Delhomme will be the starter this week for the injured McCoy. McCoy has not been great this season but has done what it takes to beat some really good teams. He wont play this weekend against the Panthers, as he is likely to be the number 3 QB.

Mathews likely Out

Email Post Email Post

Update:
According to the NFL Network, Chargers RB Ryan Mathews is unlikely to play this week against the Colts. Mathews is still battling a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact:
Mathews has been out for a couple games now but the Chargers are finding ways to win anyways. With Mathews out, expect Tolbert to have a solid game in Indy.

Photo Story: A Loser’s Legacy – The Waning Days of the Rich Rodriguez Era at Michigan

Email Post Email Post
rich-rodriguez-loser

Tomorrow, Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan Wolverines play the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus. The embattled Rodriguez, who has led the Wolverines to 7 wins this season after falling short of bowl eligibility the last two years, needs a signature win as he nears the end of his season season; none would be bigger than beating Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes.

The likelihood of that happening, of course, is very slim. While the Wolverines can put up points, their defense offers little to no resistance. Thus, expect Terrelle Pryor (whose recruitment still represents Rich Rod’s first loss to Tressel) to run wild and the Buckeyes to beat Michigan…again.

Wondering how Rodriguez is dealing with the waning days of his maniacal rule in Ann Arbor, I traveled there this week to take lots of photos and record the conversations I heard. The result is the photo story below, which tells the tale of a man being forced to come to grips with the legacy he is leaving at one of college football’s Mount Rushmore programs.

The legacy of a loser.

Gates Questionable

Email Post Email Post

Update:
According to the NFL Network, Chargers TE Antonio Gates is questionable for this Sundays game against Indy. Gates has practiced this week but has been very limited to go along with soreness.

Fantasy Update:
Gates has missed the past two games and yet the Chargers are still getting it done with makeshift receivers, back-up TE and RB. If Gates is able to go then he is most definitely a starter, but if not look else where for a TE as Phillip Rivers may lean towards his “new” favorite receiver in Vincent Jackson this weekend.
