This game is nothing.

The outcome of this game changes nothing.

The game-changing play that will take place sometime in this game changes nothing.

As I sit here on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the fact that I already put any thought into this game at all, when I should be completing my marathon viewing of Season Two of “The OC” (don’t judge me), makes me a little sad, a little worse a person, and probably, drives me a little closer to insane.

Green Bay Packers v Atlanta Falcons – Too Close to Call

Email Post Email Post

In their past three games, the Green Bay Packers have dominated the opposition, winning the contests by an impressive aggregate score of 85-10, putting Wade Phillips and Brad Childress finally out of their respective coaching miseries in the process. Scoring wins on the road this year in the process against the 7-3 Eagles and 8-2 Jets was not bad neither.

Considering how the Pack have become pretty good at getting opposing coaches termed, perhaps Mike Singletary (GB’s opponent in Week 13) and/or even Lovie Smith (Week 17, if it’s really playoffs or bust for the Bears) should start to get nervous.

But for this week, it’s on to a much formidable target with a trip to Atlanta to face the team with the best record in the NFC.

QB Henne could start Sunday

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that Miami Dolphins QB Chad Henne could start next week against the Oakland Raiders ahead of QB Tyler Thigpen. Henne missed last week due to a knee injury suffered in week ten.

Fantasy Impact: The Dolphins were shutout with Thigpen under center, so Henne will give the Dolphins a much higher chance to win. However, the Raiders have a top-five pass defense and so the Dolphins success will depend largely on RB Ronnie Brown. In terms of fantasy, look for quarterback help elsewhere and continue to ignore Henne.

TE Miller questionable for next week

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that Oakland Raiders TE Zach Miller is listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Miller was limited in practice Friday with a foot injury but is expected to play. The Raiders face the Miami Dolphins in week 12.

Fantasy Impact: Miami has the 10th ranked pass defense in the NFL and have only given up two touchdowns to opposing tight ends all season. Don't expect Miller to put up very many fantasy points this week.

WR Floyd back at practice

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that San Diego Chargers WR Malcom Floyd returned to practice Friday after resting Wednesday and Thursday. Floyd re-aggravated a hamstring injury during last week's game against the Denver Broncos. He is listed as questionable for next week.

Fantasy Impact: Floyd has been doing good when he's on the field, becoming a solid number two or number three receiver in terms of fantasy. Monitor his status over the weekend and if he's playing he should be in all fantasy lineups.

Shawne Merriman placed on IR

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that the Buffallo Bills have placed LB Shawne Merriman on injured reserve, ending his season and possibly his career with the Bills. Merriman was claimed from waivers earlier this season and hasn't played a game due to an Achilles injury. He is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of this year.

Fantasy Impact: At least the Bills didn't have to give up anything in order to acquire Merriman so even if he does leave Buffalo after this season it won't be too big of a deal. The real question lies on whether or not he will return to the Bills. This can be ignored in terms of fantasy since the Bills DST hasn't been of any fantasy value this year.

LT Andrews released from hospital

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that New York Giants LT Shawn Andrews has been released from the hospital following treatment for a chronic back condition. Andrews has been in the hospital for the past two days and missed a full week of practice before last week's game. He is officially listed as doubtful on the team's injury report.

Fantasy Impact: It looks like Andrews won't be able to go next week, which could be a problem for QB Eli Manning and the Giants' run game. However, the Giants play the Jacksonville Jaguars and are good enough to beat them without Andrews. Expect the Giants to be just fine without him.

DE Keisel downgraded to questionable

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers DE Brett Keisel has been downgraded from probable to questionable on the team's injury report. Keisel has been suffering from a hamstring injury but hasn't missed any playing time and practiced all week.

Fantasy Impact: This is kind of awkward considering he practiced in full all week and wasn't even on the team's injury report on Friday. It seems like he will play, and either way the Steelers defense should be fine. In terms of fantasy, the Steelers DST are a must-start.

Photo Story: The Genius of Matt Millen

Email Post Email Post
matt-millen

I am watching the Ohio State-Michigan game as I watch this, and the Buckeyes currently lead 24-7 over the beleaguered Wolverines. Granted, after yesterday’s craziness, an early 24-7 lead is meaningless (right Alabama?), but I think the safe bet would be Ohio State holding on and beating Rich Rodriguez for the third straight year.

With the first half about to end, there are two questions that must be asked. First, will this game mark the waning days of the RichRod era in Ann Arbor? Second, why in the hell is Matt Millen announcing this game, and why does it seem like he announces damn near every football game on TV?

The answer to the first question will not be known until at least after the Wolverines’ bowl game this year. The answer to the second question, however, is obvious: because Matt Millen’s a genius, that’s why. An example of this genius is depicted below.

Asante Samuel out for Eagles

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Eagles CB Asante Samuel will not travel with the team to Chicago today. Samuel has been bothered by a sore knee for a couple of weeks now.

Fantasy Impact: Joselio Hanson will start in place of Samuel against the Bears. Hanson has played well all season alongside his fellow undrafted teammate Dimitri Patterson. Both have been great finds for the Eagles organization. Do not expect any dropoff in the Eagles defense this week. As long as the front four get pressure on Cutler, the Eagles secondary should have no problem covering the Bears WRs.

Vincent Jackson back for Chargers

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSSports.com is reporting that WR Vincent Jackson will be back in uniform when the Chargers play the Colts on Sunday Night. Jackson has missed the entire season due to a suspension and a contract holdout.

Fantasy Impact: Don't expect much from Jackson in his first game back. It will take him a few weeks to get into game shape. It is not even known how many snaps he will play. Follow him however because once he's 100%, he could be a great fantasy option as he can add a lot to an already explosive San Diego offense.

Colts Addai, Hart likely out

Email Post Email Post

Update: Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star is reporting that Colts RBs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart are both questionable and are likely not going to play Sunday against the Chargers. Addai has not practiced and Hart missed Friday's practice after practicing Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: It looks like Donald Brown will get another start, whether the Colts like it or not. They don't have any other choice. Brown has struggled this season and has been very inconsistent. Perhaps the Colts were just holding out Hart today for precautionary reasons. Addai is almost a given that he won't play however. He still has not been cleared for contact drills.
