Gradkowski injures shoulder again

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Raiders QB Bruce Gradkowski re-injured his shoulder in their loss against the Dolphins today. Gradkowski had just returned as the starter today throwing for 252 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs. Jason Campbell will likely start again next week.

Fantasy Impact: Gradkowski was called to start today's game to give some consistency at the QB position. Turns out he won't be there for long. He had to miss five games with the last shoulder injury so it may take that long for him to come back from the same type of injury.

Fantasy Football Week 13 Sleepers

Email Post Email Post

In Week 12, we learned a lot about some players we’ve been going back and forth on.

For example, Mike Goodson finally got into the end zone and proved that he’ll have value even with Jonathan Stewart healthy again (especially in PPR leagues). We also learned that WRs we previously thought were one week wonders – Jacoby Ford and Ben Obomanu, to name a couple – might need to be taken more seriously.

With many playoff positions resting on a strong Week 13 performance, I tried to dig even deeper this week to unearth potential sleepers for your lineups.

Arian Foster continues to impress

Email Post Email Post

Update: Arian Foster continues to impress in his second season with another big game in a 20-0 shutout against the Titans. Foster ran for 143 yards while having another 75 receiving. He was however held without a TD, which is rare of him this season.

Fantasy Impact: Foster has been held under 97 total yards just once this entire season. He has also had a TD in all but 3 games so far. Foster has been quite possibly the biggest fantasy pickup this season. He is a must start in any league.

Peyton Hillis has another great game

Email Post Email Post

Update: Peyton Hillis had another huge week as the Browns beat the Panthers today 24-23. Hillis ran for 131 yards on 26 carries for 3 TDs. He also caught 6 passes for 63 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Hillis has been a huge sleeper this year. He has carried his Browns to wins all season long. Besides Hillis, the Browns have had no offense which makes it even more impressive. Hillis is turning into a must start player, after having 3 straight weeks of 100 total yards or more and 3 total TDs.

Parker out, Dixon in for Eagles

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that Eagles DT Antonio Dixon will play today and also that DE Juqua Parker is inactive. Both did not practice Friday and both had previously been listed as questionable. Rookie Brandon Graham will start in place of Parker.

Fantasy Impact: The key to the Eagles front four being so good and strong this year has been their depth. They go at least 7-8 deep on their line each game. The Eagles have plenty of depth to make up for the loss of Parker and should not have any drop off in talent. Dixon would've been the bigger loss if he were out. He has been a great run stopper this season.

Report: 2 teams interested in Burress

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to ESPN.com, there are supposedly two teams interested in signing WR Plaxico Burress. Burress is still in jail, but agent Drew Rosenhaus says he expects him to be out in time for Training Camp next year. Rosenhaus would not say the two teams that are interested in him.

Fantasy Impact: Before being let go by the Giants, Burress was a top 10 WR in the NFL. He and Eli Manning had a great connection during his time in New York. It will be interesting to see if he can contribute to a team in his first year back. Like Mike Vick, he might have to ease back into the game and take it slow the first year.

A few minutes ago, Twitter exploded with reports of an epic fight between the normally mild-mannered Andre Johnson and noted asshole Cortland Finnegan. Once I finally saw the video, I had to agree. It’s pretty epic for an on-field NFL fight.

Here is the video of the Andre Johnson-Cortland Finnegan fight:

Andre Johnson and Courtland Finnegan both ejected

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Nick Scurfield on Twitter, Texans Andre Johnson and Titans Courtland Finnegan have been ejected from their game for fighting on the field. Both apparently threw punches at each other.

Fantasy Impact: Schaub will be without his top WR and the Titans will be without their top and most physical CB in Finnegan. From those that saw the fight happen, they are saying that suspensions will definitely be looming. Keep track of especially Johnson, who you will most likely have to sit within the next couple of weeks if he is in fact suspended.

Seahawks WR Williams inactive

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that Seahawks WR Mike Williams is inactive today for the team's game against the Chiefs. Williams hasn't practiced all week because of a foot injury. He had been listed as questionable.

Fantasy Impact: Williams has resurrected his career with the Seahawks this season. He has been out of football for the past two seasons and has come back and played well. He already has passed his previous receiving yards from his entire career. He will surely will be missed in an already weak Seattle offense.

Adrian Peterson hurts ankle

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has left the game in the 2nd quarter against the Redskins. Peterson limped off the field with what looked to be an ankle injury. They are saying his return is probable however.

Fantasy Impact: Peterson got a game's worth of fantasy points in just under 2 quarters. He had 70 yards and a TD. It looked like he was just going to get taped up and then come back onto the field. The Vikings offense sure has struggled with him off the field and could use them back as soon as possible.

Jones Drew questionable today

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Jags RB Maurice Jones Drew is questionable this week against the Giants. He was limited in Friday's practice nursing an abdomen injury.

Fantasy Impact: Coach Jack Del Rio said that Jones Drew should be "OK" to go today. Injuries are common place for Jones Drew. Afterall he is only 5'7". Expect him to be on the field in what is now a key game for the Jags. They have turned their season quickly around and are now in the playoff hunt. Jones Drew has also been running the ball alot better than ealier in the season. He has had 3 straight 100 yard games and has 3 TDs in those games.

Brandon Marshall out today

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that the Miami Dolphins have downgraded WR Brandon Marshall from doubtful to OUT today against the Oakland Raiders. Marshall hasn't practiced all week due to a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: Although Marshall isn't having the fantasy season most owners hoped, he is still vital to the team's offense. He is still one of the best WRs in the game right now. The Dolphins will struggle to spread the ball around on offense now, especially with their QB situation still up in the air.

Bruce Gradkowski back at starting QB

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that Oakland has chosen to go back to Bruce Gradkowski at QB for today's matchup against the Dolphins. Gradkowski had been benched for the previous five weeks after the Raiders acquired Jason Campbell in a trade over the offseason.

Fantasy Impact: The Raiders, at 5-5, are only one game out of first place in the AFC West. Changing QBs week to week doesn't seem like the best ideas, but it's Oakland. Who knows? Campbell has played terrible as a starter and Gradkowski is supposedly fully healed from his injury. It really doesn't matter which QB they choose because the Raiders love to run the ball and use their different options out of the backfield.
