Bettor’s Guide: NFL Week 11 Picks, Point Spreads, and Over-Under Odds

Email Post Email Post

Update 11/17: All spreads and picks are in.

And I’m back!

After three straight weeks in which I was one game under .500, I stormed back in Week 10 with a 9-5 record. That makes me 76-57-6 overall, which is just over 57% for the season. I consider 51% to be successful when it comes to picking games in this wild, crazy, unpredictable league, so I’m ecstatic being 19 games over .500.

Now it’s time to back up a good week with another good one. Let’s get to the picks.

Email Post Email Post

The bye weeks are over and the NFL schedule heats up considerably with the Week 11 slate.

Obviously Indy-New England is the highlight any weekend when it is play, but it is far from then only juicy matchup. The Vikings try to save their season against Green Bay, the Eagles and Giants battle for NFC East supremacy, and the Broncos try to get back in the AFC West race against San Diego.

Patriots Release LB Shawn Crable

Email Post Email Post

Update: Robert Lee of the Providence Journal is reporting that the New England Patriots have released LB Shawn Cable. Cable was a third round pick in 2008.

Fantasy Impact: Cable was only roster depth but surprisingly he got cut after his best game this year where he had 2 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Cardinals Sign OT D’Anthony Batiste

Email Post Email Post

Update: Cardinalsgab.com is reporting that the Arizona cardinals have signed OT D’Anthony Batiste. Batiste played 5 games with the Broncos this season and was released in October. The Cardinals placed there starting RT Brandon Keith on IR earlier today.

Fantasy Impact: This move is for offensive line depth only.

Barden Placed On IR

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that the New York Giants have placed WR Ramses Barden on IR with a fractured left ankle. The Giants signed WR Derek Hagan to take his place. Hagan had 8 catches for 101 yards last season with the Giants and was cut this past September.

Fantasy Impact: The Giants have multiple injured receivers. There is a small chance Hagen could get on the field and make a few plays. The main player whose value increases is Mario Manningham, as he becomes a starter in this Giants offense. He is a must add if he is available in your league and consider trading for him if possible.

Dolphins Give Fasano 2 Year Extension

Email Post Email Post

Update: Jason La Canfora of NFL.com is reporting that the Miami Dolphins gave TE Anthony Fasano a 2-year contract extension for 7.75 million. The deal includes a 2.1 million dollar signing bonus. Fasano has 25 catches for 367 yards and 3 TD this year.

Fantasy Impact: Fasano is only a bye week filler TE in most leagues. Expect him to have a better week on Sunday, as he will be the safety valve for QB Tyler Thigpen. He makes a decent start if you are scrounging around for a TE.

Cardinal Place Starting RT On IR

Email Post Email Post

Update: Mike Sando of ESPN is reporting that the Arizona cardinals have placed there starting RT Brandon Keith on IR with a knee injury. OL Jeremy Bridges will start in his place.

Fantasy Impact: The Cardinals are already having problems on the offensive line and this will make things even worse. The only Cardinal worth starting at this point is WR Larry Fitzgerald.

Video: The Greatest Individual Performance in Basketball History

Wilt Chamberlain once scored 100 points. A young Michael Jordan once dropped 63 on the Celtics in the Boston Garden. Kevin Love, a white dude, defied the odds by being the first guy to go 30-30 (points-rebounds) since Moses Malone.

But none of these sterling individual performances can compete with a short, plump Asian woman who can now lay claim to having turned in the greatest individual performance in basketball history.

Trust me. Any of you who have played the Pop-A-Shot arcade basketball game will agree.

49ers waive WR Hill

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have cut WR Jason Hill on Tuesday. Hill only played two games this season for the 49ers.

Fantasy Impact: Hill may be picked up by another team in need, but don't expect him to be anything of fantasy value anytime soon. Continue to ignore him in terms of fantasy.

WR Mason expected to play next week

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that Baltimore Ravens WR Derrick Mason is expected to be able to play next week despite a broken finger. Mason had the finger wrapped and played with it last week but aggravated it and caused some swelling. The Ravens play the Carolina Panthers in week 11.

Fantasy Impact: Mason has scored a touchdown in back to back games even with a broken pinkie finger. Plus, the Ravens are going against the woeful Panthers who may well give Mason another touchdown-receiving game. Expect the Ravens to run the ball for much of the game and Mason should be considered a number three receiver at best in terms of fantasy.

WR Ward expected to practice by Thursday

Email Post Email Post

Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward is expected back at practice by Thursday. Ward was hit hard in the head/neck area early in the game last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers and did not return to the game. He passed his neurological tests Tuesday and is expected to be able to play next week.

Fantasy Update:  Ward has been having a decent year so far but hasn't blown up like the Hines Ward of old. Part of the reason is because of the emergence of WR Mike Wallace as the team's primary deep threat at wideout. Ward should be considered a high number three fantasy option at wide receiver.

Favre, Childress say no MRI needed on shoulder

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress and QB Brett Favre agree that no MRI will be needed on Favre's shoulder. Favre had been complaining of soreness in the shoulder and originally thought it was related to a surgery he had in the offseason on a torn biceps muscle. Favre is expected to play against Green Bay on Sunday.

Fantasy Update: It looks like Favre will be okay for at least another week. However, he is having a horrific year and shouldn't be considered of value on terms of fantasy. Drop Favre and pick up another quarterback like St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford who is having a terrific year.

Giants WR Smith out longer than expected

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that New York Giants WR Steve Smith is now expected to miss a month with a torn pectoral muscle. It was originally diagnosed as a week-to-week injury but new details have emerged that put Smith on the sideline until sometime in December.

Fantasy Update: Smith was having a solid season before getting injured, and for fantasy owners this couldn't have come at a worse time. With the playoffs starting in the next few weeks, owners will want Smith back in their lineup. For now, stash him away on the bench and hope he can get back on the field by the time fantasy playoffs begin.

Steelers cut K Jeff Reed, sign K Suisham

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN.com is reporting that the Pittsburgh Steelers have cut K Jeff Reed. Reed has missed a field goal in three straight games and recently ripped fans after their loss to the New England Patriots in week ten. The Steelers have signed K Shaun Suisham to replace Reed.

Fantasy Impact: Reed has been very erradic in his last few games and it looks like the Steelers have had enough of his antics, especially after insulting fans. In terms of fantasy, drop Reed and pick up another kicker before week 11.
