Epic Modern Family Face-Off: Julie Bowen versus Sofia Vergara

A month ago, I had never seen an episode of Modern Family. I had, however, heard and read countless people talking about how great it is. Finally, my girlfriend decided to take matters into her own hands and end my needless suffering. She bought me the Season 1 DVD.

As soon as Cameron punctuated the pilot episode by walking out with Lilly in the red robe with the Lion King playing – this received quite a hearty guffaw from yours truly – I was hooked. I tore through the rest of Season 1 in about a week and am going through it a second time as my fall-asleep-to DVD. Rarely does a show live up to the massive hype the first season of Modern Family received; but it did.

And two of the major reasons why Modern Family is so…pleasant…to watch are Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara.

I decided that I could write another fantasy football column or pit these two beauties against one another in an Epic Modern Family Face-Off for female supremacy. It didn’t take long for me to decide which one the majority of our readers would enjoy more.

Update: It has come to my attention that not everyone knows who is who. My apologies. I figured either a) everyone watches Modern Family or b) it would be obvious from their names. Apparently not. Well just to clarify, Julie Bowen is the blonde on the left and Sofia Vergara has dark hair and is on the right.

Vergara has gotten tons of pub for her role as Ed O’Neill’s sexy, saucy Colombian wife – especially when she promised to run naked through the street if Modern Family won an Emmy, causing hearts to race across America). Bowen, however, flies a bit more under the radar playing your somewhat-stereotypical type A mom – although, I have to say, not many of the stereotypical type-A moms I ever knew growing up looked quite so stunning.)

So while I think Vergara will probably get the majority of the votes, I’ll be interested to see how many Bowen fans there are out there. I’m thinking it will be 60-40 Vergara, but we’ll see.

As for me, I’ll abstain. My girlfriend is hotter than both of them, so there really isn’t any reason for me to vote.
