Update:
Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (chin, ankle, foot) said he expects to play in the team’s Week 9 game, reports Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Favre required eight stitches to close a gash in his chin.

Fantasy Update:
Favre got knocked out of todays game by Myron Pryor with a legal hit. Favre expects to be ready for week 9 despite all the injuries he has battled already this season.

Troy Smith likely to remain starting QB

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to CSN Bay Area, the 49ers are likely to stick with Troy Smith at QB, even if Alex Smith is healthy. "We're going to continue to go forward with Troy Smith right now," Coach Mike Singletary said.

Fantasy Impact: Alex Smith has been inconsistent all year long and I think Singletary was looking for an excuse to bench him. Troy Smith led the 49ers to only their 2nd win of the year with 2 TDs. He is still not a viable fantasy option yet. Wait until he gets another game under his belt and see how he does against a better defense.

Asomugha being helped off

Update:
Nnamdi Asomugha being helped off. Putting no pressure on right leg. Two people helping him off. Players falling left and right here.

Fantasy Update:
It seems that Asomugha has injured his ankle in today’s game against the Seahawks. The Raiders are up 23 to 3 right now so his return is in serious doubt. This could be a huge loss to the Raiders if he is as injured as it seems. The Raiders have played well of late and losing their best defensive player could be devastating.

Vince Young injures ankle

Email Post Email Post

Update: Rotoworld.com is reporting that Titans QB Vince Young has left the game against the Chargers with an ankle injury. Young had been questionable prior to the game because of his ankle and knee.

Fantasy Impact: Young injured his ankle on a non-contact play which usually is a bad sign, but this was probably just an aggravation. Young was keeping his team in the game just like he always does throwing for 2 TDs on only 10 completions. Kerry Collins has stepped in.

Young out of game

Update:
Vince Young has left the game in San Diego with injury.

Fantasy Update:
Young was having a solid day through the air with 2 tds and 253 yards. Kerry Collins has stepped in and is trying to lead the Titans to a come from behind win like he did last week. Collins looked solid last week against the Eagles but well see how he fares against the Chargers. More info on young when it comes in.

Favre leaves with laceration on chin

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Albert Breer of nfl.com, Brett Favre has left the game with a laceration to his chin. Favre was helped off the field after he was noticeably bleeding from under his helmet. His return is obviously very questionable.

Fantasy Impact: Favre was having a good game except for one INT. He had thrown for over 250 yards in about 3.5 quarters. Favre was sacked and taken down hard after he had driven his team down towards the end zone. Check his status throughout the week again to see his availability for the next week.

Favre return questionable

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Brett Favre has left today’s game against the Pats with multiple injuries to the face.

Fantasy Update:
Favre has been diagnosed with lacerations to the chin after being decleated by Myron Pryor. The ageless one got hit hard and I’m sure there is more damage to his chin and teeth than that. Favre’s return to the game is questionable. Good news is Tavaris Jackson came in and threw a touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion.

McNabb Benched?

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb was taken out of the team’s Week 8 game late and was replaced by QB Rex Grossman, reports The Associated Press. McNabb appeared to be healthy when he was taken out.

Fantasy Update:
McNabb was 17 of 30 for 220 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Not a bad game by any means, but also not what the Redskins expect playing against an in superior Detroit Lions team. Grossman was put in for the final couple of plays but nothing was really said about why. The Redskins did not have enough time to make a comeback so thinking they were better off with Grossman was probably not the reasoning. If McNabb was hurt, information should be available sometime shortly.

Matthew Stafford throws for 4 TDs in return

Email Post Email Post

Update: Matthew Stafford made a big return to the field today as he played QB for the first time since week 1 when he suffered a separated shoulder. He threw for 4 TDs and over 200 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Stafford looked pretty good in his return. His team put up 37 points on a Redskins team that have been only allowing 19 on average this season. As long as Calvin Johnson is healthy, Stafford is a great start every week.

Donovan McNabb benched in last drive of game

Email Post Email Post

Update: With less than two minutes left in the game and the Redskins trailing by only 6, Coach Mike Shanahan put Rex Grossmna is for the final drive. Donovan McNabb was benched and was apparently healthy. Grossman proceeded to fumble the first snap and the Lions scored a TD.

Fantasy Impact: In the post game press conference, Coach Mike Shanahan said "I thought (Grossman) gave us the best chance to win," according to Redskins Insider Jason Reid. The weird thing about the move was that McNabb wasn't having a bad game. It sure will be an interesting week for Shanahan as to why he really benched McNabb.

Torain injures hamstring

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) left the team’s Week 8 game against the Detroit Lions after suffering a hamstring injury, reports Frank Tadych, of NFL.com.

Fantasy Update:
Ryan Torain was not having a career day by any means but he has been very important to the Redskins offense. With Clinton Portis on the mend, Torain had some very strong games in his absence. He did not return in todays game and more on his injury will probably come later in the week.

Britt hurts hamstring

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt (hamstring) suffered a right hamstring injury and is questionable to return to the game, reports TitansOnline.com.

Fantasy Update:
WR Kenny Britt was most likely picked up in every fantasy league in the country this week after his huge day against the Eagles last week. This week he is in a lot of lineups and wont do much to help the team win. Britt’s return is questionable and even if he does return he is expected to be slowed down a little bit with that hamstring.

Jags Garrard has big game in return

Email Post Email Post

Update: David Garrard had a huge game today in his return to the Jags lineup. Garrard torched the Cowboys defense for 260 yards and 4 TDs. He also rushed for 1 TD.

Fantasy Impact: People were criticizing Garrard all season long for his play and questioned whether he should be the starter on this team. This game throws all that critcism out the window as Garrard came to play today. He proved his critics wrong against a decent Dallas defense.

WR Floyd Inactive

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Chargers WR Malcolm Floyd will not play today against the Titans.
Fantasy Update:
The chargers will be without there top receiver for a third straight week. The Chargers signed WR Vincent Jackson earlier in the week and can not wait to have him at their disposal. Patrick Crayton will replace Floyd on the outside as Buster Davis and Nannee are also both out.
