OL Marcus McNeil Signs tender

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers OT Marcus McNeill has signed his one-year tender offer worth $630,000, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He will miss the next three games of the season because he is on the roster exempt list.

Fantasy Impact:
The Chargers have finally got one of their two holdout players back and maybe McNeil was the more important one. He will miss the next three games but afterwards will be back on the Chargers offensive line where he belongs in front of rookie RB Ryan Matthews.

Clausen to Start

Email Post Email Post

Update:
The Carolina Panthers have announced that rookie QB Jimmy Clausen will start this Sunday against the Bengals.

Fantasy Impact:
Clausen will start his first NFL game behind a beat up offensive line, backs that haven’t done much of anything this season and a against a Bengals defense that is very physical and aggressive. The rookie will learn what a pro football hit feels like this game, he is not a viable fantasy option.

OL Jeff Otah Out

Email Post Email Post

Update:
The Carolina Panthers have downgraded OT Jeff Otah (knee) from doubtful to out for Week 3, according to the Charlotte Observer’s Darin Gantt.

Fantasy Impact:
As if the Panthers running game hasn’t been bad enough, the Panthers will be without their best OL this week against the Bengals. Neither Williams or Stewart should be starting on your fantasy team this week.

Start Jones-Drew

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Maurice Jones-Drew should be starting this week, but should do some damage this time.

Fantasy Impact:
Maurice Jones-Drew has not been the top fantasy RB he was drafted as this season. Things should change this week against the Eagles defense. The Eagles have notoriously been bad at stopping the run and last week it showed when Jahvid Best torched the eagles for three touchdowns. MJD should have a solid day on the ground and add a TD this game.

Bush to Play, but how much?

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said RB Michael Bush (thumb) will be able to play in Week 3, but he is not what Bush’s role will be during the game, according to ANG Newspapers’ Jerry McDonald. “That remains to be seen,” Cable said. “He obviously did everything this week. He’s done a little bit the last two weeks. We’ll go in there and be smart about where and when we use him.”

Fantasy Impact:
Raiders RB Michael Bush looked like he would open the season as the starter up until he got hurt, but with the emergence of former first round pick RB Darren McFadden, Bush role will be limited. The Arizona Cardinals defense has been torched the past two weeks on the ground and it should be expected to continue this week. Bush should sit but McFadden should start in all leagues.

Saints Sign Betts

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said the team re-signed Betts on Wednesday, two days after running back Reggie Bush broke his right leg during New Orleans’ victory at San Francisco on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact:
The loss of RB Reggie Bush hurts the Saints in a lot of ways but sures up the fantasy value for atleast one Saints RB. With the addition of RB Ladell Betts, and loss of Bush, the Saints will rely on Pierre Thomas to carry the ball in running situations. This brings Thomas value up tremendously because he no longer will split carries with Bush.

McNabb a Must Start

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb has been on the teams injury list all season but has started both games. No exception this week either when the Redskins take on the Rams.

Fantasy Impact:
#5 will have a big fantasy day this Sunday and look for TE Chris Cooley and WR Santana Moss to reap the benefits. The Rams secondary is bad this year and Donovan looked really good against the Texans last week. McNabb is a must start this Sunday and should put up huge numbers.

CB Randall Gay Out

Email Post Email Post

Update:
New Orleans cornerback Randall Gay will sit out Sunday’s divisional battle against the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Friday.

Fantasy Impact:
The Saints will be without top CB Randall Gay in a decisive game this Sunday against the Falcons. Although it is only week three this is a game that could predict one and two in the division for the end of the year. Look for Matt Ryan and Roddy White to exploit the absence of Gay in the secondary.

RB Jamaal Charles Not a Strong Option

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is a likely no play this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Impact:
Last weekend RB Thomas Jones received double the amount of touches that Charles had in the game. And it seems like this will be another week of Jones receiving the bulk of the load. Charles is still the teams biggest threat but against a tough 49ers defense the Chiefs will rely heavily on the smash mouth football play of Thomas Jones. Charles is not a strong fantasy option this week.

Sit Deangelo Williams

Email Post Email Post

Update:
Carolina Panthers RB Deangelo Williams has averaged only 3.5 yards per carry this season and things do not look to get any easier against the Bengals.

Fantasy Impact:
Williams is usually a sure start every week even with Jonathan Stewart splitting carries with him, but this season he, as well as the Panthers offense, have struggled when trying to get something going. He is one of those players you sit this week when playing a tough Cincinnati team.

Owen Daniels Limited

Email Post Email Post

Update:
According to an Inside Source, Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 24, for the third consecutive day. He is probable for Week 3 and expected to play.

Fantasy Impact:
Texans TE Owen Daniels has been quite a disappointment so far this season in a fantasy sense. Last year when he go hurt he was the highest scoring TE but now hes barely seeing the ball. Expect much of the same this week because the Cowboys have pretty good linebackers but terrible cornerbacks.

Andre Johnson will Go

Email Post Email Post

Update:
According to an Inside Source, Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 24, for a second consecutive day. He has been listed as questionable on the team’s Week 3 injury report, but is expected to start against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Impact:
Andre Johnson will start in this Sundays game against the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson was slowed down by the injury but the days off were probably more of a rest then couldn’t go. With the Texans 2-0 playing a Cowboys team that is 0-2 and has a terrible pass defense, look for Johnson to put up big numbers this week.

Stanford-Notre Dame Preview and Prediction

Email Post Email Post

It’s time for another weekly dose of college football, as Notre Dame hosts an impressive Stanford team on Saturday.

Notre Dame was hoping for some better results the last two weeks. They could be 3-0, but instead  they’re 1-2. Those two losses all came down to one play, as most games usually do.

This week, the Fighting Irish hope to gain some momentum for when they play Oregon and USC, as in the next few weekends, but it’s going to be hard to get through this week with a win.
