Rams Sign Chauncey Washington

Email Post Email Post

Update: Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the St. Louis Rams have signed RB Chauncey Washington off of the Jets practice squad. Washington was placed on the practice squad after being released.

Fantasy Impact: Washington is being brought in to provide depth. It is unclear whether or not Steven Jackson will play this week, therefore the Rams need more players who can carry the ball. He is not a good play in fantasy and would be lucky to see a few carries.

Can Terrelle Pryor Be The First Great NFL QB From OSU?

Terrelle-Pryor-Ohio-State

When you tuned into ESPN’s Monday Night Football last night, you probably heard the infamous player inductions.

This is where a player says their name and their college or high school they attended. One of the most often heard schools is “Thee Ohio State University”.

Ohio State has sent 16 first round draft picks to the NFL since 2000. The players that have been sent into the NFL have succeeded in just about every position: A.J Hawk at line backer, Orlando Pace and Nick Mangold at offensive line, Cris Carter at wide receiver, Eddie George, Maurice Clar . . . umm I mean Beanie Wells at running back, and many more.

But quarterback seems to be the one spot that Ohio State has never had a player transfer his skills from collegiate level to the pros.

Can current Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor finally be that guy?

Fantasy Impact: This move is only roster depth. The Bucs are looking for a TE that can block.

Shaun Smith, Chief Package Handler (Updated w/ Video!)

Shaun Smith, formerly of the Cleveland Browns and now with the Kansas City Chiefs, has been accused of major violations of guy code. The details of the accusations can be found here, via Chuck Yarborough of The Plain Dealer.

Smith is not being accused of asking out a girl that he knew one of his friends liked without first seeking permission from said friend (aka the “Bros Before Hos” principle). As egregious a guy code violation as that would be, what Smith is actually being accused of is much, much worse.

Shaun Smith has been accused of sneak scrotal attacks against his fellow man. That’s right, Smith is going after other dudes below the belt where it really hurts. And it’s not an isolated incident. Two straight weeks now, Smith’s opponents have accused him of unnecessary, unsportsmanlike, and code violating genital hijinks.

LeGarrette Blount To Have A Bigger Role

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to give rookie RB LeGarrette Blount more carries from this point on, Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune reports. This past Sunday Blount received his first carries of the season, and he was successful against the Steelers defense. He had 6 carries for 27 yards and 1 touchdown.

Fantasy Impact: Cadillac Williams is still the starter and will get the most carries, but if Blount plays well, he should get more and more touches. Blount is a powerful runner, so he may steal some touchdowns from Williams around the goal-line. He is not a great pick up at this point in fantasy, but may be in a couple of weeks, especially if the injury prone Williams suffers gets hurt.

Garrard Gets "Endorsement"

Update: Paul Kuharsky of ESPN is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars QB David Garrard got Coach Del Rio's "Endorsement" Garrard was 13 for 30 for 105 yards with 1 interception on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Garrard is still going to be the starter but he is playing terribly. He should not be started unless it’s a really deep league or 2QB league. Jones-Drew and Mike Sims-Walker have been affected by Garrard's bad play. MJD is still a must start but its tough to start Sims-Walker with the way Garrard is playing.

Colts Running Game Takes A Step Back

Email Post Email Post

Update: During Week 2, it seemed as if the Indianapolis Colts solved their running game woes. During Week 3 against the Broncos, the Colts returned to their old ways, totaling just 40 rushing yards on 22 carries, a putrid 1.8 yard per carry average.

Fantasy Impact: Owners of either Joseph Addai or Donald Brown in fantasy have to be frustrated with the lack of consistency from the Colts rushing attack. Through just 3 games, it appears that the Colts will be very inconsistent from week to week, meaning playing Addai or Brown could be risky. Addai is the better play because he gets more carries and is a factor in the passing game.

DeAndre Levy Injures Ankle

Email Post Email Post

Update: Chris McCosky of The Detroit News is reporting that the Detroit Lions LB DeAndre Levy injured his right ankle in last week's game. He missed the first 2 games with a groin injury. His status for Sunday is still unknown.

Fantasy Impact: The Lions need Levy healthy to have any success on defense this year. The Lions defense is not fantasy worthy.

Texans May Rest Andre Johnson

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Houston Texans will consider resting Andre Johnson during Week 4, houstontexans.com reports. Head coach Gary Kubiak said in a press conference that the team will continue to evaluate Johnson's injured ankle, but will not rule him out. The Texans go to Oakland to face off against the Raiders this weekend.

Fantasy Impact: If Johnson does not play against the Raiders, the fantasy stock of several players will dramatically rise for the Texans offense. Receivers Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones along with tight end Owen Daniels would surely see more balls thrown their way. Also, without Johnson, the team would possibly look to run the ball more against a poor Raiders defense, making Foster arguably the best running back in fantasy for Week 4.

Stafford Will Start Light Throwing

Email Post Email Post

Update: Carlos Monarrez a Free Press Sports Writer is reporting that the Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford will start light throwing this week. He is still a few weeks from playing again.

Fantasy Impact: Stafford recovery is still on schedule and there have not been any setbacks. Stafford should be cut in shallow leagues since there is still no real time table for his return.
