O’Hara Out Longer Than Expected

Email Post Email Post

Update: On Wednesday, New York Giants C Shaun O'Hara missed another day of practice with an ankle and Achilles tendon injury, the AP reports. O'Hara has missed the entire season thus far, and the Giants hoped he would be out for just 2 weeks. It is unclear if he will be available for Week 4.

Fantasy Impact: Through 3 games, the Giants have given up 7 sacks and 18 QB hits. Part of the the reason for those high numbers is the fact that O'Hara, a very good center, has not played. If and when the Giants get their best offensive lineman back, the protection of QB Eli Manning will certainly improve.

Delhomme Likely Available This Weekend

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland Browns QB Jake Delhomme is not expected to practice today, but should practice later in the week and might be available to play this weekend. Delhomme has missed the last 2 weeks with a high ankle sprain.

Fantasy Impact: Over the last few seasons Delhomme has proved to be very turnover prone, which is not a good for any owners of Delhomme in fantasy. It is not worth starting Delhomme as there is always a high chance he will turn the ball over multiple times in one game. It is unclear in Delhomme will play this weekend, but if he does, it is recommended that he does not start for your fantasy team.

Redskins Workout Keenan Burton

Email Post Email Post

Update: Howard Blazer of the St. Louis Globe Democrat reports that the Washington Redskins have worked out WR Keenan Burton. Burton has previously played for the Rams.

Fantasy Impact: One of the weaknesses for the Redskins is the receiving unit. Santana Moss is the only wide receiver on the roster with more than 3 receptions. While Burton is not the most talented receiver on the planet, he could not be any worse than the rest of the receivers on the Redskins roster. He would likely get a chance to see the field.

Michael Johnson Placed On IR

Email Post Email Post

Update: The New York Giants have placed S Michael Johnson on Injured Reserve, Zach Berman of The Star-Ledger reports. Johnson has a herniated disc in his back.

Fantasy Impact: In the offseason the Giants added safeties Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant, making Johnson's role in the defense significantly diminished. Because of that, losing Johnson will not be as big of a loss as many may think. The Giants have plenty of capable safeties on the roster to go on without Johnson.

Garcon In Question For Sunday

Email Post Email Post

Update: The status of Indianapolis Colts WR Pierre Garcon for Week 4 is unknown at this time, colts.com reports. Garcon has a hamstring injury and the team will have a better idea of his availability on Friday or Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Through 2 games, Garcon has just 4 catches for 54 yards, which are not great fantasy numbers. However, any Colt receiver has the ability to have a big game, as it has been evident with Austin Collie so far this season. Without Garcon, Collie has stepped up and put up big fantasy numbers, making him a great play with Garcon out of the lineup.

Ravens cut Pryce

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Ravens announced Wednesday morning that they cut defensive end Trevor Pryce. Pryce led the team with 6.5 sacks in 2009 and had started 42 games over five seasons in Baltimore before being replaced by Dwan Edwards six games into last season.

Fantasy Impact: The Ravens certainly feel like they have enough depth in their defensive line to rush the quarterback and stuff the run without the 35-year old Pryce. They will be fine. As for Pryce, he will receive other job offers, most likely from the Jets. Pryce had some of his best years when Rex Ryan was Baltimore’s defensive coordinator, and the Jets could use another defensive lineman, given the problems they’ve had getting to the quarterback without blitzing.

Who should win the Cy Young Awards for 2010?

The 2010 MVP races don’t excite me due to the ambiguity of the most “valuable” player – for what it’s worth, I’d probably go with Miguel Cabrera and Joey Votto – but the Cy Young rule is clear: the honor goes to the BEST pitcher on ANY team in a season.

English out 4-6 weeks

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL.com is reporting that Chargers linebacker Larry English had foot surgery and will miss the next four to six weeks. English has had problems with his foot since training camp and his absence further depletes San Diego’s linebacker corps after Shawne Merriman’s calf injury Sunday. English, a second-year player, compiled 4 tackles and a half sack over the first two games before being inactive Week 3 in Seattle.

Fantasy Impact: With all of the problems in the Chargers’ front seven so far this year, they really can’t afford to take a hit when it comes to their pass rush and run-stuffing ability. Their next three games are against Arizona, Oakland, and St. Louis; three teams who look as if they are beginning to hit their strides offensively. They are 1-2 right now, two and a half games behind the unbeaten Chiefs who they lost to Week 1 on Monday night. Things could get very ugly in southern California over the next several weeks if major adjustments aren’t made.

Saints sign K John Carney as possible replacement

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Saints have signed veteran K John Carney to a one year deal, according to Adam Schefter, via Twitter.

Fantasy Impact: Garrett Hartley has been a little shaky in the first three weeks of the season going 4/7. John Carney provides insurance in case this trend continues. Whoever the Saints kicker is, he will have plenty of opportunities to get 3 points as long as Drew Brees is at the helm of that New Orleans offense.

WR Steve Breaston out multiple weeks

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Sportingnews.com, Arizona Cardinals wideout Steve Breaston is being sidelined for several weeks due to a torn meniscus in his knee.

Fantasy Impact: With Early Doucet already out for the Cardinals, all focus will be on Larry Fitzgerald. Look for opposing teams to double or even triple team him and try to make Derek Anderson find another target to throw too. That target might be hard to find on Arizona's depleated depth chart.

Seattle Seahawks sign WR Brandon Stokley

Update: The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with WR Brandon Stokley, according to Chris Mortensen's Twitter account.

Fantasy Impact: Look for Stokley to fit right in with current starters Mike Williams and Deion Branch. However, do not be so quick to assume that the Seattle trio of WRs will have a big game against St. Louis this week. The Rams defense has played surprisingly well, allowing only 16.3 ppg and only one touchdown pass in each of its first three games.
