Jerod, Awesome post. I am a huge Jets fan. The Jets were killed all week for not suspending him. The Jets made the point that they did more than any other team by suspending him for a quarter. My first thought was, that is absolutely sad. Jets are the first team to do this (Regardless of what Dungy said, he never suspended anyone for DUI. How about Marvin Harrison for shooting? Fraud) With Stallworth, Little, and Brown why didn't anyone step up and say no this is not right.

Selfishly I wanted Braylon to play because, let's be honest, he is our best deep threat until Week 5. But in the grand scheme of things DWI is nothing more than a luck of the draw with not getting caught or injuring someone. Braylon and every other NFL player who has gotten a DUI needs to step up. If Braylon truly wants to do right thing he should donate his game check to MADD. This doesn't excuse his action but will at least show us something rather than what we think he actually is.

Agree Matt. And as fans, I think we all tend to look the other way when it's "our guy". When I realized I'd been railing against the Jets and Braylon for the same thing the Dolphins and Ronnie Brown had done (actually worse, because at least Edwards missed a quarter) it really made me think. Such is life in the NFL though, where winning means more than anything…to the league, to owners, to coaches, to players, and to fans. It's time that we place SOME things over winning…like justly punishing actions that could reasonably result in the death of another person.

Absolutely. Those disagreeing have blinders on, or agendas, like Mike Greenberg, Jets fans and others. Shame on the NFL for such transparently lenient policies.

I also think it is ridiculous about Edwards. Especially with the advantage that Jets players had to have a car pick them up 24 hours a day. I don't know what the sports world is coming too. How about Gilbert Arenas last year? In what other line of work could you a bring a gun to your place of business and still have a job? Unbelievable. By the way, for Jets fans out there. Check out my blog and see my article about Rex Ryan. I wrote, from a bear's fan perspective, how awesome it would be to have a guy like Ryan. I argue that he might be bigger than Ditka if he was the Bear's head man.

    How about Due Process first???
Ray Lewis murders people and gets nothing
Pacman Jones shoots people and gets a 1 year suspension
Michael Vick runs illegal dog fighting ring and gets the noose.
If Vick were Mike Huckabee's son then he would have been free and the investigators would have been fired.

  • AJ Kaufman

Why pick on Huckabee? If Vick were Obama or Clinton's son, the same.
Anyway, I agree with you on Vick being punished too hard, but insane PETA and Court types love dogs, and therefore it's worse than murdering a human. I think that's insane, though I too like animals, but I cheer for Vick MORE now since he got shafted while these other thug criminals get little or nothing. It sickens me to see Lewis, Jones, Stallworth etc out of jail.
