Let’s be honest: every year August drags along in the sports world.
Sure, we have our baseball pennant races, but those don’t really heat up until September. Preseason football is here, but it sucks to watch. The most exciting event this weekend is the PGA Championship, being held right here in the wonderful state of Wisconsin, but as with any golf tournament I will only be watching if Tiger is in contention.
If you’re looking for relief from the August sports doldrums, you’re in luck this morning. What I always do when sports are in a bit of lull is watch TV shows on DVD. And one of my favorite TV shows is “Arrested Development.”
Honestly, I don’t need much of a reason to watch AD; and the combination of not seeing the show in a few months and a slow sports weekend more than fits the qualifications.
So without further ado, here are 10 clips from Arrested Development, in no particular order, that I love and use in regular conversations far too often.
If you’ve seen these, bask in the memories of this amazing show; if you haven’t, watch the clips then buy the DVDs immediately. Everything is funnier when you understand the context and AD is one of the funniest shows of the last decade.
10. Franklin the puppet gets the best of Buster, surprising everyone except Franklin.
9. I’ve always wondered what Buster really said there. Sometimes things are best left to the unknown.
8. Nothing like a breakfast ruined by lack of supplies.
7. Sounds like a perfectly safe lunch option to me.
6. This is, by far, the quote I use most in everyday life. Obviously, I have some social problems.
5. Has anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken?
4. Tobias, Tobias. Dear Lord, Tobias.
3. Come on!
2. Barry Zuckerkorn, the family lawyer: He’s very good!
1. Because really, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Anyway, I could probably make a lot more of these posts with all the clips I left out. What’d I miss? Post links to your favorite AD scenes in the comment section.
