Off-topic alert! Off-topic alert! It’s still July and sports are still relatively boring (sorry, but T.O. in Cincy isn’t interesting until the season starts) so I’m going to trust that you don’t mind me foregoing an analysis of the White Sox 6-5 comeback win last night (yeeeyessss!) when the alternative is bringing in some professional entertainers to make you laugh.
When I first heard the phrase Dinner for Schmucks my initial thought was that someone was referring to a luncheon of MSF writers moderated by Ken Rosenthal. Naturally, I was excited.
But when I found out the truth, that Dinner for Schmucks is actually a movie starring Steve Carell, Zach Galifianakis, and Paul Rudd, I just started laughing. I hadn’t seen the previews, hadn’t seen the now ubiquitous “He’s friends with Morgan Freeman!” line, hadn’t even seen a screenshot of Galfianakis in a cape; no, I just figured I’d get a head start on my laughing because how could a movie with those three schmucks not be hilarious?
It was exactly the same thought I had this morning when I saw that Carell had joined Galifiankis for an interview while sitting on two chairs placed in between two potted ferns. And, of course, the latest edition of Between Two Ferns did not disappoint. It is embedded below, along with a whole host of other funny video clips involving Carell, Galifianakis, and Rudd.
(And, as always, I request your help in directing us to videos I forgot about. That’s what the comment section is for.)
Note: if it seems like I’m going a little light on the Galifianakis clips, it’s only because I’ve posted about him before. Hop on over to our previous post about him that ran down 10 of the funniest Galifianakis moments available on YouTube. (And then for more laughter check out 10 funny moments with Louis CK and the 10 funniest skits from Chappelle’s Show.)
Between Two Ferns Episode #9: Zach Galifianakis Interviews Steve Carell
Of course, Carell and Galifianakis are not the only two schmucks who have done a hilarious interview together.
Carell and his 40-Year Old Virgin buddy Rudd also did a great interview together at this year’s ESPYs. We’ve featured here at MSF before, but it warrants a re-embed just in case you missed it.
In this video, Carell and Rudd spoof LeBron’s “Decision” as Carell explains why he is “taking his appetite” to Outback Steakhouse.
Paul Rudd Interviews Steve Carell at the 2010 ESPYs
If you aren’t excited for Dinner For Schmucks after watching the two videos above, then there is a good chance you and I wouldn’t get along very well. At the very least, we probably wouldn’t laugh much together.
But if those videos don’t do anything for you, maybe some of these others will. I have prepared for you a smorgasboard of funny clips involving Carell, Galifianakis, and Rudd to further whet your appetite for this weekend’s opening of their new movie. (And, for the record, I don’t get anything if you decide to go buy a ticket – which is just f’d up – but I do get the satisfaction of spending work time watching funny video clips.)
Have fun. These are in absolutely no coherent order whatsoever. See you in about an hour.

And more killer dance moves with…Conan!
And let’s finish things off with a few classic scenes from Anchorman. (I was going to add some scenes from 40-Year Old Virgin too, but most of them were not embeddable.)
Steve Carell: The Toilet Store
Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, et all: Afternoon Delight
Steve Carell: I Love Lamp
Paul Rudd: Whitey, Tighty Dancing
Steve Carell: Bears Can Smell…
That’s all I got. (Actually, that’s all I have time to post; I could honestly sit here and embed videos of these three for hours.) I’m sure I left out some great ones so please post links in the comment section for everyone to enjoy.
I swear one of these days I’ll talk sports again. (In the meantime, if you want to keep laughing, I-am-Bored.com is always a good option.)
