Update: According to the Baltimore Sun, Ravens’ S Ed Reed has contacted the Ravens about a new contract. Reed, who has three years remaining on a six-year contract extension he signed June 2006, is scheduled to earn $6 million in 2010, $6.5 million in 2011 and $7.2 million in 2012. I’m not making it a big deal,” Reed said on The Norris and Davis Show. “[But] I think it needs to be taken care of.” A spokesman for the Ravens said the team would not respond to Reed’s comments. In his interview on 105.7 FM, Reed said the new deal comes from the fact that he has maintained his level of play while other safeties have not. Reed, who recently had hip surgery, said he is about 35 percent. “I’m not going to ask the Ravens about anything if I’m not going to play any much longer,” he said. “I appreciate the opportunity that the Ravens have given me. I’m not about to ask them for anything if I’m not going to be playing. My focus is to get myself back. I’m coming back for at least for one more year.”

Update: According to the Tennessean, Tennessee Titans’ RB Chris Johnson, who is unhappy with his current contract, did not take part in the offseason program and missed all 14 days of organized workouts. Johnson wants a long-term deal that would pay him at least $30 million in guarantees. Even though the Titans are still not willing do this, they may have reached a short-term solution that would give Johnson a small bump in pay next season. Johnson could earn up to $2.5 million in salary in 2012, but the Titans could also turn this money into a signing bonus in 2010, which would give Johnson additional funds now with the possibly of getting a long-term deal after next season.

lebron-james

LeBron James defines Cleveland sports at the moment.

Heck, LeBron could someday define Cleveland sports, period.

I’ve never seen or heard of an athlete as advanced, bodied, and talented as LeBron in any sport, ever. Sure, he’s not the best player ever a la MJ, or even the best player currently a la Kobe; I will be the first to say it. He doesn’t have the 6 rings, or any of that.

But, can it happen? Could LeBron achieve all of that?

Why not?

And this is why LeBron James means so much to the city of Cleveland, and the rest of Ohio, not only financially, but emotionally too.
