Celebrating the 4th of July with Two American Traditions: Fireworks Fails and Lee Greenwood

Today is July 3rd, which means that tomorrow is one of the most important dates on any proud American’s calendar.

July 4th, our nation’s birthday, Independence Day.

If you really think about it, this is the one day on the calendar that truly brings all Americans together – regardless of politics, religion, race, or gender – in support of a single cause: celebrating our incredible nation.

So, in honor of July 4th, I’ve decided to use this space today to pay my own special blogging tribute to our annual celebration of freedom and liberty.

And what better way to start out than by laughing at some awfully hilarious fireworks fails. (But don’t worry…there is a real tribute for those who make it all the way to end.)

Let’s start out with the morons featured in the first two videos below.

Had the Founding Fathers seen these videos before drafting the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, they might have thought twice about endowing us with an alienable right to free will.

Might I offer this quick tip before you light up your fireworks this year? Keep them out of your butt and away from the family jewels.

I mean, I’d think that goes without saying…but apparently not.

Here is a montage that starts out with a bunch of other non-thinking, absent minded individuals who never should have been let within 100 feet of a firework.

I’d like to say that it’s surprising that so many of these videos involve guys…but of course I’m not.

Gentlemen, I think it’s safe to say that this is our gender at its worst.

And here are some others.

And finally, while this video certainly appears to be a setup, its message is a good one: don’t hold lit fireworks.

Okay, well now that we have the whimsical part of the post out of the way, let’s get serious for a second.

I don’t know about you, but my favorite part about the 4th of July is the ubiquitous playing of Lee Greenwood’s classic anthem “God Bless the U.S.A.” Whether you’re driving in your car listening to the radio, at a baseball game, at a local fireworks display, or pretty much anywhere else, you are most likely going to hear this terrific tribute to what makes America so special.

So why not listen to it a day early and get yourself warmed up? Below is a video with the song and some great photos to accompany it, plus a few other pictures below that should help get you in the God Bless the U.S.A. spirit.

Have a happy (and safe) 4th of July everyone. It’s a great weekend for remembering that we live in the greatest nation this world has ever known.

God Bless America!
