Email Post Email Post

Update: As expected, Albert Haynesworth was a no-show at the Redskins’ first mandatory day of minicamp on Wednesday, according to Redskins.com.

Fantasy Impact: Haynesworth is not happy about his role and the new defensive scheme in Washington, and wants out.  Expect the fines to start piling up.

Jason Hill looking good

Email Post Email Post

Update: San Francisco 49ers wideout Jason Hill has been a standout in the team’s offseason drills so far, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Fantasy Impact: Hill will likely be a No. 3 wideout at best for the 49ers.  With Brandon Jones and Ted Ginn now in the mix, Hill won’t have much of a chance to standout, but this is a good sign that he is looking sharp.

Hixon banged up

Email Post Email Post

Fantasy Impact: Orginal reports were that his ankle was hurt, but now reports are that it is his knee.  It is not a serious injury.

NBA Finals Recap (Game 6): Attack of the Yellow!

Email Post Email Post

NBA Finals 2010 (Game 6): Celtics – 67/Lakers – 89

As you can tell by the score, this thing was a smack in the face for the Celtics, and how quickly the pendulum has swung back onto the side of the yellow and purple.

After Game 5, there was the talk of Celtics and banner 18, and heck, I was even on that bandwagon. The C’s defense looked nearly impenetrable, but was I wrong.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Cisco. All opinions are 100% mine.

So I was invited to take part in promoting the Live the Beautiful Game promotion earlier today, and I have to say that it was a worthwhile experience that I quite enjoyed.

This is how it works: follow the link to put yourself in a World Cup video. Once there, all you do is upload a picture, set a few points at different spots on the face you use, and then watch yourself as a soccer star.

Here is my video:

Special Guest Post: Tom Izzo’s Offseason Photo Diary (Updated: I’m Staying!)

Email Post Email Post
draymond-green-big-10-2011-12-basketball-season-preview

As you know, Tom Izzo is currently trying to make one of the most important and difficult decisions of his life: does he stay in East Lansing or bolt for Cleveland and the NBA?

Despite reports over the past week that Izzo’s decision was imminent, no such decision has been made.

Our good pals at Sparty and Friends are on record as saying that people need to lay off Izzo for taking his time in making the decision (especially idiots who would flippantly make Izzo-Favre comparisons on Twitter.) And Sparty’s right.

Izzo is weighing a lot of important factors right now, not the least of which is whether or not he’d have the luxury (necessity?) of a roster that includes LeBron James. Seeing as how he has one of the best situations in college basketball if he stays put, I think a reasonable mind could understand why Izzo is being meticulous.

We certainly do here at MSF, and that is why we have opened up our pages to Coach Izzo as he weighs this important decision.

Funny Video: AD Stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett Team Up for “The Prom Date”

Email Post Email Post
will-arnett-mustache-orbit-prom-date-commercial-video

Even though this is (supposedly) a sports blog, and even though right now might be the greatest time to be a sports fan in 2010, I’m going off-topic for a post.

What, you may be asking yourself, could be important enough for me to momentarily shirk sports this afternoon?

Easy: a reunion of Jason Bateman and Will Arnett. (And if that sentence doesn’t excite you, then you obviously need to go buy this right now. Don’t worry, you can thank me later.)

But thanks to a new viral video campaign by Orbit gum, we get to see Michael and Gob Bluth together again on the screen…even though they’re playing different characters; but who cares, right? Right.

Arrelious Benn dealing with ankle injury

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Pewter Report is reporting that Tampa Bay Bucs rookie wideout Arrelious Benn is missing time at OTA's with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Impact:  Benn had ankle issues all throughout his final year at Illinois so this isn't the news that Bucs want to hear.  Benn is a solid sleeper in fantasy leagues as he is expected to be a starter this year.

Vikings waive RB James Johnson

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Minnesota Vikings have waived RB James Johnson. Johnson spent last season on the Vikings' practice squad.

Fantasy Impact:  With Darius Reynaud, Toby Gerhart, and Albert Young all in the mix, there was just no place for Johnson on the team.

Scheffler to be threat for Lions

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Lions brass expect Tony Scheffler "to be a big-time threat in Detroit" this season. The Lions have spoken of using Scheffler in the slot.

Fantasy Impact: Calvin Johnson is the go to guy in Detroit and that isn't going to change, but with the Lions making it known they are going to look to pass more, Scheffler should get a good amount of targets.

Revis may hold out

Email Post Email Post

Update: The New York Post is reporting Darrelle Revis sat out several drills at Jets minicamp Monday in protest of his contract situation, and told reporters after the workout that he is serious about a training camp holdout. Revis also reiterated that he wants a contract larger than Nnamdi Asomugha's three-year, $45.3 million blockbuster. "That's the bar," Revis said.  "I might be at training camp, I might not," Revis added. "As of right now, it doesn't look good."

Fantasy Impact:  The Jets appear to be playing hardball with Revis who is one of the best, if not the best corner in the league.  Expect this situation to continue well into training camp.

RB Stewart resumes running

NBA Finals Recap (Game 5): The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing But…

Email Post Email Post

NBA Finals 2010 (Game 5): Lakers – 89/Celtics: 96

The pendulum is now in full swing for the Celtics’ side, as they took over in Game 5.

What is the reason the Celtics won the 2008 NBA Finals? Because of defense, defens,e and more defense.

To be honest, when Ray Allen was stroking it from three, and Garnett was faking you in the paint, and when Pierce was stepping back and wetting it, that is all a plus; but the Celtics are where they are because of defense, and it sure showed as the C’s held the Lakers to under 40% shooting in both FG% and three-point %.

Dazzling enough for you?

Why Is There So Much Hate for Soccer in America?

Email Post Email Post

I am part of that population who, if I mention soccer, get yelled at for bringing it up. Is it wrong, in America, to like different sports other than football, baseball, or basketball?

It seems like it is.

I still love all those sports. Sure, I have my favorites, but I consider myself to be a sports fan, meaning I respect and enjoy watching all kinds of sports because I know how it feels to play one. The adrenaline you get by playing a sport can’t be matched. If you have a sport you love to play, you know exactly what I mean.

So why all the hate in America for soccer?
