While Sox fans await 10th straight W while Cubs fans enjoy barenaked male backsides

cubs-gay

This afternoon, the Chicago Cubs leave the friendly confines of the city’s north side to begin a three game series on the south side with the White Sox.

The two two teams met a couple of weekends ago, with the White Sox taking two out of three in Wrigley. Since that series, the White Sox have not lost, stringing together nine straight wins and moving to three games over .500. The Cubs, on the other hand, have continued their century long trend of sucking by going 4-5 to move to eight games under .500.

It is in times like these when Cubs fans resort to their most trusted source of solace: the barenaked naked asses of other men.

Don’t stop…believing.

Hold on to that feeling.

These are the infamous words sung by Steve Perry in Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believing”, which just so happened to be the official song of the White Sox 2005 drive to the World Series title.

Clearly, the 2010 White Sox are listening.

Hey Ray Knight, you will respect Rob Dibble’s authoritahhhh!

What Jimmy Traina said in his tweet about the video below sums it up perfectly:

The unlikeability of Rob Dibble in this clip, in which he argues with Ray Knight, is off the charts

Quick background: the video was taken after yesterday’s 1-0 Royals victory over the Nationals in which Stephen Strasburg got his first loss despite striking out 9 batters, walking none, and giving up only 1 run in 6 innings. The only blemish was 9 hits given up, which is slightly higher than you might like from an ace.

But seeing as how the kid is 21 years old and already one of the best pitchers in baseball, I think we can all live with a few hits. Just don’t – and I mean don’t – tell Rob Dibble that Strasburg was giving up hits because he was around the plate too much.

You hear that Ray Knight? Don’t do it! You only got a hit in the World Series; Rob Dibble was an NLCS MVP!!! And he can melt granite with the beams of his icy glare!

Landon Donovan Makes Sure U.S. Stays Alive in World Cup

A second can change everything.

You could not invent a more dramatic ending for the USA/Algeria game. A 91st min goal by none other than Landon Donovan sent the USA into the quarters while also making American fans the happiest people on Earth.

With England up 1-0 against Slovenia, every minute that ticked by with the USA and Algeria tied meant doom and a very uneasy exit from the World Cup for the Americans.

Chances were a plenty for the US, but the ball would not go into the net. Close call after close call, and another disallowed goal by a non-existent offsides, could’ve put the US in the wrong situation.

One man, Landon Donovan, had other plans.

GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!

I can honestly say this if the first moment I’ve really been genuinely ecstatic about something that happened in a soccer game.

In case you haven’t heard yet, the U.S. beat Algeria 1-0 during stoppage time on a great goal by captain Landon Donovan. Team USA now moves onto the knockout round of the 2010 World Cup.

WOW, what a game. What a moment. [Read more...]

The Scales of Douche: Tiki Barber, Albert Haynesworth, and Adam Morrison

Email Post Email Post
tiki-douche

A couple of weeks ago I introduced a new post series called The Scales of Douche. In the first installment, I took Bryce Harper to task for his eye black and ripped golfer Rickie Fowler and Michigan QB Tate Forcier for their websites. (Plus, I also ripped on myself for creating the post in the first place.)

Well, The Scales of Douche received such a good response that just two weeks later I am back with a new edition.

This week, I consider changing the ranking scale from Mariottis to Tikibarbers, poke unnecessary fun at Adam Morrison and his not-so-magic mustache, and rip on a 300+ pound defensive tackle who could lather me with spicy mustard and eat me as a hors d’oeurve if he wanted to.

All right, let’s start calling out some douches.

Washington has sore wrist

Fantasy Impact: Washington will be fine for training camp and this is just a minor injury.

Bengals discuss contract with Benson

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals and running back Cedric Benson are in the “early stages” of discussions regarding a contract extension. The Bengals appear willing to sign Benson to a long term deal.

Fantasy Impact: Benson might see a contract offer after the season starts if he gets off to a nice start.  Something should get done between the two sides.
