McIntosh signs injury protection agreement

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting on Twitter that Unsigned restricted free agent linebacker Rocky McIntosh has signed an injury protection agreement and will begin practicing with the Redskins. McIntosh is looking for negotiations on an extension to begin.

Fantasy Impact:  The Redskins have been dragging their feet in talking long term with McIntosh, and it may be because they want to see how he does in the new 3-4 scheme.

McDaniels loving Tebow

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Denver Post is reporting Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels raved about Tim Tebow's "it" factor this week, predicting the rookie will make an impact at the NFL level sooner rather than later. Explained McDaniels: "Everybody keeps talking about the thing I think we can fix (delivery, arm strength) — that's my job as a coach — and nobody's talking about the things we don't have to teach him because he already has all that."

Fantasy Impact:  McDaniels groomed Tom Brady into the superstar he is, so there is no question that he has a proven track record in working with quarterbacks.  He knows that if Tebow is a bust that it will be on him so look for McDaniels to put a ton of effort into proving his critics wrong.

Bradford and Gilyard "clicking"

Email Post Email Post

Update: The St Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that rookie quarterback Sam Bradford developed "instant chemistry" with fourth-round wide receiver Mardy Gilyard during last weekend's rookie minicamp.

Fantasy Impact: Gilyard was selected for his ability to make an impact in the return game, but given the lack of depth at the wideout position, he may get himself some playing time as a slot receiver.

Blogging Fitness: Hustlin’ to Hip Hop

hip-hop-dance-class-workout

If you have read my articles before, you know how I like to switch things up a bunch when I am working out. Although I have my favorite stand-bys and weekly routine for working out, I definitely crave a shock to the system time and time again.

The worst thing that could happen when you are dedicated to an active lifestyle is losing sight of that inspiration.

To me, it’s like a relationship: when your traditional workout routine is losing its luster, kick it up a notch and step out of your comfort zone. You could potentially find a new love or it could make you appreciate your current workout even more. Either way, you have nothing to lose and it’s a sure way to get your workout in for the day.

Recently, I personally was feeling like my routine was getting a little blasé so I thought, what better way to spice it up than dancing it out!

I have to admit that, as a frustrated White Sox fan, it has been hard to find things to smile about during the early part of the 2010 baseball season.

Thanks to Cleveland Indians announcer Bruce Drennan, I now have one.

Yes, I agree with Deadspin; this rant is epic.

Raiders release Russell

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter has tweeted that the Oakland Raiders have announced the release of quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Russell, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, has struggled mightily in his pro career.

Fantasy Impact: The writing was on the wall for Russell when the Raiders traded for Jason Campbell. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Update: ESPN is reporting that the New Orleans Saints have made right guard Jahri Evans the highest-paid interior offensive linemen in the league by signing him to a seven-year, $56.7 million deal on Wednesday. Evans will receive $19 million in the first year of the contract.

Fantasy Impact: Evans, 26, has started all 64 games since he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 draft. The Saints allowed 20 sacks last season, which was fourth fewest in the NFL.

James signs with 49ers

Email Post Email Post

Update: A league source has told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the 49ers and cornerback William James have agreed to a contract. James, a 10-year veteran, started 14 of 16 games for the Lions last season.

Fantasy Impact: James could challenge for a starting spot alongside Nate Clements and adds depth to the 49er secondary.

Carpenter close to being a Ram

Email Post Email Post

Update: Sources have told ESPNDallas.com’s Calvin Watkins that the Cowboys are shopping linebacker Bobby Carpenter and that the Rams are one of the teams interested. Carpenter, the Cowboys’s 2006 first-round pick, has seen his role diminished over the past few years. The Cowboys drafted Penn State linebacker Sean Lee in April’s draft.

Fantasy Impact: The Rams would trade their 2005 first-round pick, Alex Barron, to the Cowboys in exchange for Carpenter. The Cowboys need tackle depth and Barron has struggled in a starting role for the Rams.

Have you ever seen a girl of about 10 or 11 (maybe 12, who knows) take a basketball between her legs in midair and then slam it home?

You’re about to.

I guarantee this will be the most entertaining video you see all day. (Unless, of course, you work for any kind of child safety organization…)

Pacman near deal with Bengals

Email Post Email Post

Update: Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that the Bengals are near a deal with former Titans and Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones. A decision is expected Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Apparently the Bengals were impressed with Jones in his two workouts for the coaching staff. Jones has a long history of run-ins with the law, but the Bengals owner, Mike Brown, loves reclamation projects. Jones would likely be a nickelback and return man.

Cornelius Ingram getting healthy

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News is reporting that Eagles tight end Cornelius Ingram (ACL surgery) participated in individual drills during last weekend’s minicamp.

Fantasy Impact: Ingram will likely be a backup to Brent Celek, and if he can prove he can stay healthy, he is a solid option as a pass catcher.

Judge rules on Williams brothers

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting a Minnesota judge ruled Thursday that Vikings defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams must serve four-game suspensions stemming from the StarCaps case. The two are expected to appeal the ruling. The case will likely be taken to the state Court of Appeals.

Fantasy Impact: The brothers will likely be allowed to play as they appeal, but again it should be interesting to see if this case ever gets put to bed once and for all.

Update: CBS2 in New York reports that Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor has been arrested for rape. According to the report, Taylor is “accused of raping someone in the Holiday Inn Holidome Hotel in Suffern” early Thursday morning and charges “will be filed once police complete their investigation.”

Fantasy Impact: This isn’t the type of publicity that the Giants need heading into a new season.

Rams interested in Brian Westbrook

Email Post Email Post

Update: The St. Louis Globe Democrat is reporting that the Rams still have interest in free agent running back Brian Westbrook. Running back Steven Jackson’s back is a major concern, and the Rams surely need a fall back plan.

Fantasy Impact: Westbrook is no longer a No. 1 back, but he might be able to spell Jackson.
