Update: The Associated Press is reporting that Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson skipped the team's first voluntary practice of the offseason on Monday. The star receiver feels he's outplayed his current contract.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson has five years on a $60 million contract he signed in 2007. He's had more than 1,500 yards receiving each of the last two seasons.

And so it continues.
If you didn’t expect this Monday morning to filled with more unnecessary but inevitable LeBron James rumor mongering, well you just don’t understand the new world of sports media.
On Saturday, I looked at two of the most prominent rumors circulating in the aftermath of the Cavs Game 6 loss to the Celtics. I told you why you should dismiss one and pay attention to the other.
As we sit here on Monday morning, nothing has occurred to change the opinion expressed there one bit. Quite the contrary in fact. Reports this morning indicate I just might have been right on the money.

With a 7-2 triumph Sunday afternoon in Cincy, the Reds took two of three from the erstwhile front-running Cardinals over the weekend.
The Reds haven’t been in first place this late in a season since 2006, while the Cards had been atop the division since the final day of July 2009.
A Brief History of the Loved, Loathed, and (Hopefully) Lucky Playoff Beard

The popularity of growing out a beard during the playoffs is hitting an all-time high.
The New York Islanders in the 1980s are widely attributed with being the pioneers of the playoff beard. Islander skaters such as Ken Morrow, Butch Goring, John Tonelli, Clark Gillies, and Gord Lane all grew out black beards.
They hoped it would bring luck, which it did. The Islanders of the ’80s won four consecutive Stanley Cups form 1980-84.
There is only one rule to the playoff beard.
1. Players or fans can’t shave until team is eliminated form playoffs or after the final game of the Championship.

Fantasy Impact: Canty has done his best to get healthy as he has been working out at the team's facilities the past few months. He was a disappointment last season and is hoping to rebound this year.

Fisher unhappy with Scaife

Update: Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is less than thrilled that Bo Scaife continues to skip Tennessee's "voluntary" offseason workouts, according to the Nashville City Paper. "Bo must have reasons for it," Fisher said. "He was compensated pretty well last year and he's going to be compensated pretty well this year. I think we've treated Bo pretty well."
Fantasy Impact: Teams call these workouts voluntary and then get all worked up when these guys don't show up in the offseason. This is nothing to get worked up about.

Update: Titans running back Chris Johnson is reportedly staying in great shape, according to Pro Football Talk. He has not attended any of the team's workouts due to his contract situation.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson's status is one to watch closely. The Titans would be foolish to not give this guy the contract he deserves, but this clearly is a distraction for the rest of the team at this point.

Update: Wes Welker revealed on Friday that he tore "only" his ACL at the end of last season, and not both his ACL and MCL as was widely reported, according to Pro Football Talk.
Fantasy Impact: Welker's rehab will be closely monitored as we get closer to the season. He is most likely going to miss 4-6 weeks.

Update: Redskins owner Daniel Snyder became the latest Redskins figure to publicly express disappointment in Albert Haynesworth's absence from Redskins minicamps this offseason, according to the Washington Post.
Fantasy Impact: Haynesworth has been the subject of a number of trade rumors, but it remains to be seen if the Skins actually deal him. We wouldn't bank on it.

Analyzing the LeBron Rumors: One Easy to Dismiss, Another One…Not So Much
| Tweet | Email Post
| |||

In the 48 hour aftermath of the Cavs’ Game 6 loss to the Boston Celtics, two prominent rumors started to circulate through the paper-thin walls of the Interwebs.
The first rumor was not necessarily new, it just started to gain new steam: basically that LeBron and current Kentucky coach John Calipari were going to be a package deal wherever LeBron ends up playing next season. The close association of both to William “Worldwise Wes” Wesley had turned this whisper into a low murmur some time ago.
The second rumor was new, and while it is significantly more sensational, scintillating, and salacious, it is much, much easier to simply dismiss as baseless Internet chatter. That rumor, if you have not heard it, is that LeBron found out before Game 5 that teammate Delonte West was sleeping with Gloria James, LeBron’s mother.
Since I remain fascinated by this story despite multiple proclamations that I’m sick of it, I decided to dig a bit more into both this morning. What I found didn’t really surprise me.
