Update: The Associated Press is reporting that Washington Redskins defensive lineman Phillip Daniels said receiver Santana Moss told a small group of players last week that he was treated three times by Canadian doctor Anthony Galea, who was charged last week with smuggling and supplying human growth hormone. Fantasy Impact: Daniels said he belives Moss. Time will tell if Moss is suspended by the NFL.

The Evolution of Phil Jackson

If you watch sports like I do you have undoubtedly been inundated with commercials, like this one, promoting Gatorade’s new G Series. One of the buzzwords that they have tried to associated with the G Series is “evolve”.

I don’t know why, but for some reason this morning I decided to do a Google Image Search for Phil Jackson, formerly of my (then) beloved Chicago Bulls and now the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Not surprisingly, the one word that popped into my head while browsing through pictures of the Zen Master was evolve.

Flyers-Blackhawks Stanley Cup Finals Preview & Prediction

Email Post Email Post
hawks-flyers-stanley-cup-finals-preview-prediction

The Chicago Blackhawks will host the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday, May 29th at 8:00 pm EST, starting the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals.

It may not entice the world as much as the Pittsburgh/Detroit series the last two years, but this series is not one to miss.

Both teams are coming into the Stanley Cup Finals red hot. The Hawks disposed of the Sharks in a four game sweep, while the Flyers won almost as easily, 4-1. The only previous matchup between these two this season was a 3-2 overtime win by the Flyers.

The Flyers post a much bigger threat to the Hawks than the Sharks or the Canucks, but the one thing Philadelphia lacks is the depth. No team has matched the depth that the Hawks have, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see great one-on-one matchups.

Is Lebron Considering A Move To Brooklyn And The New Jersey Nets?

Email Post Email Post

LeBron James is a wanted man.

The NBA’s most prestigious free agent will be the subject of newspaper columns, sports magazines, and online blogs until his decision is made.

James will go wherever he wants.  He does what he wants, and centers his life around himself. That’s not a bad thing considering the superstar status he’s come to live with, but it suggests that LeBron re-signing with Cleveland is probably not going to happen.

James’ signing will bring one city to its feet, while dropping many others to their knees in disgust.

Boss to miss 4-6 weeks

Email Post Email Post

Update: Giants.com is reporting that tight end Kevin Boss is expected to be out 4-6 weeks following arthroscopic ankle surgery.

Fantasy Impact:  Boss didn't see many targets last year unless it was inside the red zone.  Fantasy owners need to temper expectations on yardage production for Boss, and realize he is a TD producer or nothing every Sunday.

Nicks to miss OTA’s

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Hakeem Nicks will miss this weekend's OTAs, but he is expected to be back on the field in two weeks following offseason wrist and ankle surgeries.

Fantasy Impact: Nicks was banged up for most of his rookie season, but still was able to produce.  He will head into camp seeking a starting gig, and is a guy who has a shot to be a nice sleeper for fantasy owners.

Lito could start in Minny

Email Post Email Post

Update: Recently acquired cornerback Lito Sheppard has a good chance of starting for the Vikings in Week 1, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Fantasy Impact:  This just goes to show how weak the Vikes are at the corner position.  They are dealing with some injuries, but shouldn't be counting on Lito as he has not been effective in the past few years.

Bulger could land in AZ

Email Post Email Post

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that a source has indicated that the Arizona Cardinals have not been impressed with Matt Leinart or Derek Anderson so far and may consider signing free agent Marc Bulger.

Fantasy Impact:  This is not the answer for the Cardinals and quite frankly it isn't a good situation for Bulger.  Bulger's best bet is still to land in Chicago playing under Mike Martz again.

Update: The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Donnie Avery is splitting first team snaps with Laurent Robinson, Danny Amendola, and Brandon Gibson.

Fantasy Impact: Avery is the No. 1 guy, but is going to see competition all season long unless he produces.  Let's not forget rookie Mardy Gilyard is also going to be in the mix once camp begins.

Stallworth tweaks diet

Email Post Email Post

Update: Baltimoreravens.com reports that newly acquired WR Donte Stallworth has taken a new approach to training in order to stay healthy for the remainder of his career. He has altered his diet, stretching routines, and weight-lifting regimen all in hopes of playing a 16-game slate in 2010.

Fantasy Impact:  Stallworth has been brought into Baltimore without high expectations, as he has yet to demonstrate he is an impact wide receiver. Playing opposite Anquan Boldin might open up space for him, but it remains to be seen whether or not he can contribute.

What Happened? A Die-Hard Looks Back at the Awful End to the Cavs’ 2010 Season

Email Post Email Post

[Editor's note: This article was sent to me about a week ago, in the immediate aftermath of the Cavs' epic collapse against the Boston Celtics. In the heat of all the LeBron free agency talk, I overlooked posting it.

While going through my email this morning I happened upon the article once more. I think it is almost more insightful and appropriate now, a week later, when we still don't really have any more of an explanation for the Cavs' terrible play against Boston than we had a week ago.]

———-

I come from Buffalo, a town known for its “almost but not quite” teams.  We long for a champion, and for that reason I have come to love watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James.

Why?

Because they play with a love of the game, and have a team mentality that has propelled them to the top of the league two years in a row.  LeBron deservedly won MVP two years in a row, the team was the top seed this year, and they had made all the necessary tweaks and additions to win the NBA title this year.

Or so we all thought.

So, what happened?
