McCoy may end up playing

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Browns head coach Eric Mangini doesn’t anticipate rookie quarterback Colt McCoy playing this season, he’s not ruling it out. President Mike Holmgren had said he wants McCoy to sit and learn this season, but this is the NFL and this is Cleveland so there may not be a better option.

Fantasy impact: If the Browns aren’t in contention for a playoff berth, which they likely won’t be, it might mean McCoy gets some playing time.

David Stern.

You know the guy. Short little white guy, with the glasses? The one who shakes the hands of the the newcomers in the NBA Draft? The guy who has been running the league we love dearly since 1984?

Yeah that guy. How can you not love the guy? He made the NBA Playoffs “Amazing” again, he showed us how the “NBA Cares”, he’s made the league’s athletes look like they belong on GQ, rather than on the streets. Yes, David Stern is an iconic figure in American sports.

Boston.

A city of great sports traditition, great cultural influences, and of brotherhood.

Trust me, take it from a person that once lived in New England and has been to Boston numerous times. Whether you’re a Bruins fan, a Red Sox fan, Patriots fan, or a Celtics fan, they always bring the emotion.

They let you know when you’re playing horrible, and they let you know when you’re loved.

In the Cleveland Cavaliers’ case, they will be booed continously in this series from the moment they step foot in the TD Garden because the Cavs and the Celtics are about to dog it out, in a very classic Eastern Conference series.

Proud of the Padres

In the past three months of regular season baseball, is any team better than the San Diego Padres?

This is not a joke.

I attended a Padres-Reds game in Cincinnati on Monday night July 27, 2009. I even wrote a piece prior to heading down to Cincy about such a weak matchup.

The Reds demolished the Padres and Josh Geer that evening, but the Padres turned around and took the next three in the series, never having looked back since.

McCourty to compete for starter role

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPNBoston is reporting that Patriots rookie Devin McCourty is expected to battle Darius Butler and Shawn Springs for the starting left cornerback job this year. Veteran Leigh Bodden is locked in at right cornerback.

Fantasy Impact: McCourty has a ton to learn, but he will likely see time if he can demonstrate he is a better option then Butler and Springs who bought struggled at times last year.

Jets still interested in Brunell

Update: New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan acknowledged that the Jets remain interested in signing free agent quaterback Mark Brunell.  The Jets are prohibited from signing any free agents until late July.

Fantasy Impact: Brunell would be brought in as a veteran to continue to groom Mark Sanchez and act as an insurance policy.  If Brunell is brought in, Kellen Clemens would likely be released.
