Memo to Morons: Stop F’ing with The Mullet

Email Post Email Post

Why on God’s green Earth would anyone mess with Jared Allen?

Seriously?

The guy 6’6, 270 pounds of insane behemoth with the strength of a right tackle and more speed than most fullbacks. And I did mention he’s probably insane?

Well, thanks to @thebiglead, always a good source of morning Twitter tips, we now have confirmation that some idiot at a bar decided it would be a good idea to mess with Jaren Allen’s girl.

All I have to say to this clearly clueless moron (and to Vikings fans): you’re lucky…very lucky…because this could have ended badly.

Talib cleared of simple battery charge

Email Post Email Post

Update: The St. Petersburg Times reports that Tampa Bay Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib will be cleared of the simple battery charges filed against him with the completion of anger management classes. Don't expect that this will go away, as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will almost certainly have something to say about this.

Fantasy Impact: Talib was a bright spot in the Bucs secondary last season with five INT's.  He will be a major part of the team's defensive plans this season, but it remains to be seen if he will be handed a suspension or fine from the league.

WR Washington drawing interest

Email Post Email Post

Update: Ravensinsider.com is reporting that free-agent wide receiver Kelley Washington is drawing interest from the the Eagles, Seahawks, Bills and Raiders. The report goes on to say that Washington is most likely going to be signed sometime after the NFL Draft which is this coming weekend.

Fantast Impact: Washington isn’t much of a factor and with Anquan Boldin coming to town, the Ravens no longer needed him to be the role player he was.  He will certainly latch on with another team, but he isn’t a No. 1 threat.

Steelers implement “No Tolerance Policy”

Email Post Email Post

Update: The AP reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers players have been notified by head coach Mike Tomlin that the team is instituting a zero-tolerance policy in regards to off-field misconduct. “We were told early this morning either you get in line or you get kicked out of line,” offensive tackle Willie Colon said. “You are going to be traded or you’re not going to be here. If your conduct is going to play a part in you not being a good football player, they are going to get rid of you. There is a zero tolerance, not only with the NFL but with the Steelers.”

Fantasy Impact: This is obviously coming down from the ownership who is fed up with Big Ben trashing their name.  Big Ben has been the subject of trade rumors, but that won’t happen unless he finds himself in more trouble.  Big Ben should do himself and the Steelers a favor and just stop going to college bars.

Eagles acquire Ernie Sims

Email Post Email Post

Update: Ernie Sims has been reportedly traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.  Sims lands in Philly as part of a three team deal involving the Eagles, Lions, and Broncos.  The Lions ended up with Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler in the deal.

Fantasy Impact: Sims has been banged up a bit, and only played 11 games last season, but he has a knack for being around the ball, and will fit in nicely with the Eagles defense.

Lions acquire Tony Scheffler

Email Post Email Post

Update: As part of three-team trade, tight end Tony Scheffler has been dealt to the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s Twitter page.  The Philadelphia Eagles will obtain Lions linebacker Ernie Sims and the Broncos will get Philadelphia’s fifth round draft pick in this week’s draft.

Fantasy Impact: The writing was on the wall for Scheffler once Brandon Marshall got traded.  He was not a fit in head coach Josh McDaniels’ system, and now will head to a Lions team that will count on him to be a major part of their offense.

Portis cleared for minicamp

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Associated Press is reporting that Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis has been cleared for minicamp. General manager Bruce Allen said the team had “some of the best medical experts in the country” analyze Portis. Portis was hurt in a head-to-head collision during a game Nov. 8 and thereafter struggled with vision problems and dizziness.

Fantasy Impact: Portis rushed for only 494 yards and one touchdown last season. The Redskins need him to return to form to help ease the burden on quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Blogging Fitness: The Alyson Stoner Project Fights Childhood Obesity

Email Post Email Post
alyson-stoner-project-2

Several Hollywood stars head up a new fitness program geared towards children and teens.

Ever since I was a tiny tot, I was always on the chubby side.

In fact, my pediatrician one time put me to tears when he said I was obese and needed to see a dietician. Instead of thinking “screw you, don’t call my baby fat,” my mom took his advice and encouraged healthy eating choices and some much needed cardio.

We called on the expressive chap Richard Simmons to help get my rear in gear. Although I loved “Sweatin’ to the Oldies,” I never felt that I connected with it. It was more of a task than an enjoyable way to spend my time. There were other weight loss methods we tried but I always got frustrated and just accepted the fact that I would always shop in the “Pretty Plus” section at Sears.

I had to wait a few painful years until the baby weight melted away and I discovered my passion for running and fitness. It sure would have been nice to have Alyson Stoner as my dance coach to help rid me of those extra LB’s.

Kevin Schmidt, actor and co-creator of the Alyson Stoner Project (ASP), drew from his own weight loss success story to inspire others.

Blackhawks End First Playoff Weekend With 2-0 Win, Even Series at 1-1

Email Post Email Post

The Blackhawks played their second playoff game to absolute brilliance.

Antti Niemi stopped all 23 shots made his way, giving the Hawks a 2-0 win while also tying the series at 1.

There would be no third period flop for the Hawks Sunday night, as there was Friday night. The Hawks went into the third the exact same way they did Friday: up by one.

But the end result was different this time around.

In the first big move of the baseball season, the New York Mets are listening to their fans for once and making the call for 1st base prospect Ike Davis.

After going with Fernando Tatis and Mike Jacobs, the Mets finally bit the bullet and made the right decision to bring up Davis.

This move was also predicated by the knee injury to Daniel Murphy earlier in spring training.

Well, I’ve got more great news for those who like the following: gossip; trash talking; Chicago; Cleveland; playoff basketball; and LeBron James/Cleveland (same thing, right?)

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Brian Windhorst, Joakim Noah said the following about the city of Cleveland:

“There is nothing going on. It’s bad, man…Cleveland really sucks”

Browns RB arrested

Email Post Email Post

Update: Cleveland Browns running back Chris Jennings was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of assault, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.  Jennings has not actually been charged with a crime, but reportedly got into an altercation with a doorman at a night club on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact: Jennings would be a backup at best for the Browns this season, but this certainly isn’t going to help him in the eyes of the new coaching staff.

Gostkowski signs tender with Patriots

Email Post Email Post

Update: Stephen Gostkowski signed his tender to remain with the Patriots, according to the Boston Herald. He was a restricted free agent, and will pocket $1.759MM in 2010.

Fantasy Impact: Gostkowski is a very reliable kicker, and the Patriots did not want to let him go.
