Yes, great games were played, and I’ve got it all for you below!

Jets shopping Clemens, Faneca

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Rich Cimini, special to ESPNNewYork.com, the New York Jets are actively shopping backup quarterback Kellen Clemens and quietly seeking trade offers for guard Alan Faneca. The Jets are reportedly looking for a late-round pick for Clemens, but are also prepared to release the former second-round pick if they receive no offers. Furthermore, league sources say the Jets have been shopping Faneca for weeks, and if they can’t trade him during the draft, they may release the 32-year-old lineman as well.

Fantasy Impact: The report also says the Jets are looking for a veteran backup, including Mark Brunell. It would be unwise for the Jets to enter training camp with just Mark Sanchez, Erik Ainge and Kevin O’Connell. Faneca’s fate could be tied to whether the Jets draft an interior offensive linemen early in the draft.

Goodell refutes ESPN report

Email Post Email Post

Update: TheBigLead.com reports NFL commissioner Roger Goodell refuted the ESPN report that Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for four-to-six games. Goodell wouldn’t even acknowledge there will be a suspension or his decision is made.

Fantasy Impact: Steelers’ fans still have hope that Roethlisberger will be able to play this season with a minimal suspension. Also, with the Steelers reportedly willing to trade Big Ben, they may have to delay that decision.

Bucs re-sign middle linebacker

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Tampa Bay Bucs team Twitter page is reporting that the Bucs have re-signed restricted free agent MLB Barrett Ruud to a one-year contract. Ruud was tagged with a first- and third-round tender, so the chances of another team signing him were slim to none.

Fantasy Impact: Ruud will be looking for a long term contract, but the Bucs don’t have to give him one at this time and appear content to have him ink a one year deal.

Big Ben trade not out of question

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers have fielded phone calls about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and have not ruled out a trade. The Steelers are not believed to be actively looking to trade Big Ben, but it has been rumored that the Rooney family would permit a trade for the right offer.

Fantasy Impact: A trade would be a flat out shock although there will certainly be some mumblings especially as the draft comes on Thursday night.

Shanahan shoots down Owens rumors

Email Post Email Post

Update: Redskinsinsider is reporting that Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan shot down rumors Tuesday night of free agent Terrell Owens joining the Redskins. “We made the decision as an organization not to go in that direction,” said Shanahan. According to the Washington Post, the original report about Donovan McNabb lobbying for Owens is flat-out untrue.

Fantasy Impact: We have learned never say never with the Redskins.  They have been known to do odd things, and they may be saying they don’t want Owens, but let’s face it they don’t have many options at the wide receiver position.

Big Ben suspended 4-6 games

Email Post Email Post

Update: ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter are reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisbeger will be suspended four to six games on Wednesday for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. When announced, the suspension will contain certain conditions that will allow it to be reduced based on Roethlisberger’s behavior.

Fantasy Impact: The Steelers were braced for an eight game suspension, so this announcement comes as some small relief. The trio of Dennis Dixon, Charlie Batch and newly-acquired Byron Leftwich will compete for the starting job. Big Ben is still a second tier fantasy quarterback when he’s on the field.

Update: According to Michigan Live, Detroit Lions’ QB Matthew Stafford is not 100 percent according to Lions head coach Jim Schwartz. “He’s throwing 100 percent, he’s taking drops and doing all of those things. He’s just not ready for the 100-meter dash yet,” said Schwartz.

Redskins acquire Carriker through trade

Update: According to ESPN.com, the St. Louis Rams traded DT Adam Carriker to the Washington Redskins. The Rams and Redskins also swapped their fifth- and seventh-round picks in this weekend’s NFL draft as part of the trade. “Adam is a guy who our staff is very familiar with,” Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said. “He is talented and has an incredible work ethic. We feel he will fit in our scheme and will help us reach our defensive goals.”

Fantasy Impact: Carriker was the 13th overall pick in the 2007 draft out of Nebraska. He missed last season with a shoulder injury.

Jason Taylor lands in New York

Email Post Email Post

Update: Former Miami Dolphin Jason Taylor has signed a two-year, $13 million deal with the Jets, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The majority of the money is for the 2011 season should New York chose to keep him.  He can earn approximately $3.75M in 2010.

Fantasy Impact: Taylor will have a chance to fit in nicely in Rex Ryan’s defense, but one has to question why Bill Parcells was willing to let him leave Miami when it was clear he wanted to return.

Patriots sign WR Holt

Email Post Email Post

Update: Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston is reporting that the New England Patriots have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran wide receiver Torry Holt, according to a league source. The 33-year-old Holt played for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, totaling 51 receptions for 722 yards. Holt, who spent the first 11 years of his career with the St. Louis Rams, enters his 13th NFL season.

Saints sign Jimmy Wilkerson

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson has signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.  Wilkerson is coming off an ACL injury, and his availability for the beginning of the season is a question mark.

Fantasy Impact: Wilkerson is a guy who can play at the defensive end and tackle positions, but he is coming off a major injury and his ability to make an impact will be tough.

McNabb pushing for Terrell Owens

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Washington Post is reporting that newly acquired Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb is lobbying with the team’s management for them to sign free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.  Owens has seen some interest from a few teams, but nothing concrete.

Fantasy Impact: McNabb and Owens were one of the best combos in the NFL back in the day, but then things crumbled quickly in Philly.  It would be something else to see them reunited to get back at the Eagles.
