McDaniels rolls dice with Tebow

Email Post Email Post

Update: After trading down twice, the Denver Broncos traded up in the draft to take Florida quarterback Tim Tebow with the Ravens’ 25th pick. “I want to be a great quarterback,” Tebow said. ” … For the next few years, my mindset is going to be to repay [Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels] for what he did for me, believing in me. Just like it was when I was at Florida. My biggest joy was doing things for Coach [Urban] Meyer, winning championships, being able to help him.”

Fantasy Impact: McDaniels rolls the dice on Tebow, and is hoping he can become the face of the franchise.  Tebow has done nothing but win in his time at Florida and it is nice to see this kid go before some of his competitors like Jimmy Clausen and Colt McCoy.

The 10 Most Important Moments of the NFL Draft’s First Day

Email Post Email Post
josh-mcdaniels-tim-tebow

The 1st round of the 2010 NFL Draft was held yesterday, and it was full of intrigue.

There were trades, surprise picks, the new format, the complete implosion of Mel Kiper’s Big Board, and lots of big bear hugs for NFL Attorney General Roger Goodell, and much, much more.

At least, I thought all of those things happened, but that was before pick #25 happened.

Because, you see, what happened at pick #25 will forever determine the fate of Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, the Broncos franchise itself, and perhaps even the future course of humanity.

Blackhawks Take Back Home Ice In Another Niemi No-No

Email Post Email Post

Even though the Blackhawks played terrible in the first game in Nashville on Tuesday, Thursday was a different story. The game was amust win for the Hawks, coming in down 2-1 in the series.

A loss would have spelled disaster for the Stanley Cup hopefuls, but the Hawks shut out Nashville 3-0, getting help from goaltender Antti Niemi and his 33 saves.

Niemi is defiantly silencing the critics who said he wouldn’t make it in the playoffs due to his lack of experience, but the playoffs are showing us that experience might not mean everything.

Ravens DE Pryce takes pay cut

Email Post Email Post

Update: Baltimore Ravens defensive end Trevor Pryce has accepted a $2.5 million paycut to remain with the Ravens, according to the National Football Post.  He will now earn approximately $2M next season.  That’s a far cry from the $4.5M he was set to earn.

Fantasy Impact: Pryce will most likely see time on third downs, and won’t be a high impact player on a solid Ravens defense.

Rocca signs tender with Eagles

Update: Philadelphia Eagles punter Sav Rocca has signed his tender, according to the National Football Post.  He will reportedly earn approximately $1.2M next year.

Fantasy Impact: Rocca did disappoint last year, and as a result the Birds have brought in some competition to push Rocca.  He will likely feel the heat from Durant Brooks in training camp.

Cardinals call about Big Ben

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Arizona Cardinals have called the Pittsburgh Steelers about a possible Ben Roethlisberger deal, according to KTAR.com.

Fantasy Impact: The Cardinals have a late first rounder which wouldn’t be enough to land Big Ben.  Adam Scheffter of ESPN can continue to talk about how a deal for Big Ben is a possibility, but these are nothing more than rumors, and the Steelers trying to show Ben that they are fed up with his antics.  He won’t be going anywhere.

NFL Draft TV Schedule

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, the NFL Draft is being schedule much differently this year than in years past.

Rather than holding the draft on Saturday and Sunday during the day, the NFL is spicing things up a bit and showcasing the first round of the draft all on its own during primetime. They are then doing the same thing for the second and third rounds, followed by the remainder of the draft on Saturday.

Here is all of the need-to-know information for the 2010 NFL Draft, which if you didn’t know is tonight, well you probably need to come out of your coma.

Email Post Email Post
steelers-trade-ben-roethlisberger

The MSF news room has been buzzing this morning with news of a trade that will send shockwaves through the NFL, Hollywood, and anywhere turd sandwiches are served.

Soon after reports surfaced that trade talks with the Raiders had failed, the Pittsburgh Steelers agreed in principle to trade suspended quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Bill Cowher’s retirement sweater to HBO for Turtle from Entourage.

Roethlisberger is expected to take over the role of Turtle on all new episodes of Entourage (although the spelling will be changed to “Turdle”), while Jerry Ferrara, who played Turtle, will compete for a spot on the Steelers’ offensive line.

Two things have to happen in the next 48 hours for the deal to be finalized, at which point this poster will immediately serve as the official promotional image of the show:
