Video: Vicious Hit by James Wisniewski on Brent Seabrook

During last night’s Blackhawks-Ducks game in Anaheim, James Wisniewski laid a vicious hit on Brent Seabrook, smashing Seabrook’s head against the glass. (thanks to @TKGore for the tip on this one.)

Immediately after the hit, you can see Seabrook go momentarily limp and slump down to the ice.

And, of course, hockey being the ultimate sport of toughness, the announcers immediately begin to speculate that Seabrook might have been trying to “sell it.”

I don’t know, maybe I’m just a pansy who spent too much time on a basketball court growing up, but that looked pretty nasty. I think I would have been hitting the deck too. (Although, for what it’s worth and to my credit, I never – EVER – called fouls during streetball games. You should know that.)

Watch the hit. You decide.

So, what do you think? Was Seabrook’s reaction legit, or was he “selling it?” As you can see from the screenshot below, he does a hell of a good sales job if that was the case.

It is hard to tell. I can see an injury coming from that hit, but not like that.

The thing that makes it seem like acting is how long it takes him to fall.
Normally on a big hit, the body goes limp and falls.
Not often do you see someone wobble before falling.

    I agree with the act.
