I think they've put themselves in a really tough spot. Personally, if the judgment of Ryan and Daniels is that they can trust him and he should be the manager, then he should be. But if they struggle early, with or without the drug issue, the people here in Dallas would start grumbling. It just is what it is. Yes the Rangers have improved, but Washington still has no managerial skins on the wall in the form of playoff berths to insulate him from knee jerk scrutiny. Throw in this episode and he loses any benefit of the doubt. So it's easy to say now that his job is secure, but at 10-20 how secure will he be? We'll have to see how it plays out, but I don't think new management is going to want to see attendance slipping because of a poorly performing team and a fanbase that turns against its manager. If they're playing .500 ball, I think he's okay, but if they start slow…as they often do…it's going to be hellish for him here in Big D.

You think a slow start, esp after the success last season, and he's out? If it's about the drug issue, they might as well fire him now. I was anti-Washington until last year, but now think he's earned a few more years. On field is different than off field, so fire him now or let him have his job security. Does that make sense?
