Deuce Bello: Awesome Name, Even Better Dunk (Video)

A few weeks back I shared with you a sweet dunk by Errick McCollum, a small school college basketball player from Indiana. Today, I’m going even younger to show you an even more ridiculous dunk by a kid who is still in high school.

The kid in question is named Deuce Bello, which is the kind of smooth, rhythmic, catchy name that a guy named Jerod Morris can only dream about.

Bello, who attends Westchester Country Day High School in North Carolina, and is only a junior, threw down a ridiculous between-the-legs dunk during a game, the video evidence of which you can see below.

Now for the bad news, at least for IU fans like me. Bello, who currently carries a grade of 94 by ESPN’s Scouts Inc., is apparently strongly considering walking through the blue grass of Lexington to play for John Calipari and the Wildcats.

deuce-bello-dunkThat sucks.

Other schools apparently on Bello’s list include Clemson, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, and Tennessee.

Umm…how in the world could North Carolina and Duke not be listed here for a player in their own back yard with this kind of freakish athleticism? Not that I think Duke or Carolina need the help, but I’d certainly rather see Bello end up there than torturing Indiana for one or two years while playing at UK.

Regardless, it looks like we’re all in for a treat when this guy makes it to college. The dunk above isn’t the only one that has gotten Bello notoriety. Check out the double alley-oop below, which already has over 3 million views:

In high school I used to have a shirt that said “when a dunk is worth three points, I’ll start doing it.” And that’s true. But damn, it’d be nice to have those kind of hops for just one day. Deuce Bello, a tip of the cap to you. Please take it easy on my Hoosiers if you do end up playing for Coach Sleaze in Lexington.
