Update: According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Green Bay Packers' S Derrick Martin agreed on a two-year contract extension with the Packers on Monday. Martin, 24, became the first of eight potential restricted free agents the Green Bay Packers were able to take off the market before the signing period begins March 5. Martin, who finished second on the team in special teams tackles with 21, received a guaranteed amount, which raises the likelihood he'll be kept around, at least through the end of training camp. His first-year salary will be at least $1.176 million with a chance to make considerably more in the second year.

Update: According to ESPN.com, the New York Jets sign former Dallas Cowboys' K Nick Folk to a one-year contract, a league source said Tuesday. Folk had workouts with the Jets and Giants, but opted for the Jets deal. The deal comes to no surprise since Jets' K Jay Feely is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. However, Feely says he'd prefer to stay with the Jets and sign a contract before the free-agency period begins.
"I'd love to get back there," Feely told ESPN.com's Tim Graham. "We have had negotiations and discussions, and they were very pleasant, very positive. They're very pleased with how I kicked over the past couple years and the leadership I showed. … It's just a matter of coming to an agreement on a contract."
Fantasy Impact: Last season, Feely made 30 of 36 field goal attempts and scored 122 points. He has 231 field goals and 1,013 points in nine career seasons. Folk made 18 of 28 field goals and scored 90 points in 14 games last year. The Cowboys cut him with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
MSF Podcast with IU Basketball Legend Greg Graham

When it comes to my favorite sports teams of all-time, there are the 1992-93 Indiana Hoosiers mens basketball team…and then everyone else.
Yes, they trump the 2001-02 Hoosiers that made it to the title game when I was a student at IU. Yes, they even trump the 1991-92 Hoosiers that made it to the Final Four with many of the same guys as the ’93 team. And yes, despite not winning a National Championship or even making it to the Final Four, the ’93 Hoosiers even trump the 2005 White Sox, who brought the first World Series title to Chicago in over 100 years.
There was just something special about the 1993 IU team and I, like many other Hoosier fans, will go to my grave believing that we were one torn ACL away from hanging banner #6 in Assembly Hall.
And you know what? The fans are not alone.
Many of the players from that 1993 team believe the same thing, including then-senior guard Greg Graham, who played about as well during the second half of the Big Ten season that year as any guard in IU history, perhaps even – for that short stretch – Big Ten history.
And no, that is not hyperbole.
Earlier today, I actually had the tremendous good fortune of getting to talk to Greg Graham, who is the latest guest on the MSF Podcast.

Update: Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports there is a decent chance the New York Jets may release RB Thomas Jones during the off season. Jones is due a $3 million roster bonus plus a $2.8 million salary. The emergence of RB Shonn Greene also puts Jones squarely on the bubble.
Fantasy Impact: Jones still had a productive season with the team massing over 1000 yards once again and could be well used by another club.

Update: The Associated Press reports that The New England Patriots have applied a non-exclusive franchise on NT Vince Wilfork which will give the team more time to negotiate a long term contract. Fantasy Impact: The Patriots have reported “A long-term agreement with Vince Wilfork has been the team’s top contractual priority for some time,” the Patriots said in a statement. “Unfortunately, despite numerous conversations and proposals, the goal has not yet been realized. Vince is a tremendous player for our team and remains a significant part of our future plans.”

Update: Bernie Wilson of The Associated Press reports that The San Diego Chargers have chosen to release RB LaDainian Tomlinson after 9 incredible seasons with the club. Tomlinson would have received more money in a decreased role due to age and injuries as well as the team moving towards a pass oriented offense.
Fantasy Impact: At the age of 29 L.T. still has a few years ahead of him and as one of the greatest RB's since the year 2000 and will likely be playing for another club soon.

Fantasy Impact: Peppers was expected to do much more for the team this season but struggled at times and never seemed to live up to what was expected of him.
USA Hockey Skaters Know The Match Against Canada Isn’t the End

The American hockey team did the unbelievable by beating the heavily favored and gold favored Canadian team Sunday night.
In a game that is being compared to the epic and infamous 1980 semi-final match that pitted the young and inexperienced USA team against the dominating Soviet Union.
While this years’ game is not even close to the status of the 1980 game played in Lake Placid, it brings back the memories of Americans becoming excited for American hockey.
But the USA hockey team needs to stay focused and win the next game.
Tomlinson Released

Running back LaDanian Tomlinson has been released by the San Diego Chargers. After nine years with the franchise, Tomlinson has accrued 12,490 yards rushing, 3955 receiving and 153 total touchdowns. Tomlinson has been the most productive running back in Chargers have ever had, however in recent years he has not been as effective as in years back. In 2006, he won the MVP, had 31 touchdowns and averaged about 113 yards per game rushing (both of which were career highs). That season seemed to be the crest of Tomlinson’s career for his stats have steadily fallen since that year.
The Chargers will pay Tomlinson 1 million dollars as was part of the release clause of his contract. As for teams that Tomlinson may be going to, there haven’t been many blatant offers yet, but there are many teams such as Seattle or Kansas City who have not had solid play at running back. In the mean time, Tomlinson has said that he will continue to train extensively in the hopes that he can join a team and eventually win a championship.
Seth Davis Just Made Me Cry

Skimmed through Seth Davis’ new article at SI.com today in which he provides scouting reports on the “top teams” in America. Being completely Big Ten-centric, I skimmed right to where the teams I am interested were discussed.
That’s when I read this and my eyes started to well up with tears of sorrow and angst :
They’re so good because no matter what, they can run that motion offense. On defense they get up on you, they pressure you.
Why did this make me cry, you might be wondering?
