It is time for another edition of Photo Hilarity of the Day (see…I didn’t misspell “photo”), with a huge hat tip to our friend The Sports Hernia, who is filling in as co-editor his week over at The Big Lead.

I ventured over to TBL this morning to peruse the morning link dump and never even scrolled down far enough on the page to see if it had been posted. Why? Because I couldn’t stop laughing at this picture of Ron Jaworski jacking some kid up at a football clinic for kids.

Priceless Home Videos of Cooper Manning and His Whiny Younger Brother

Email Post Email Post

Courtesy of our good friends at Stache Mouth Football, we bring you the following video, which shows a young bunch of Manning brothers enjoying some fun but not always so friendly games of football in the backyard.

The videos were apparently uploaded by the Mannings to WePlay.com, and then Ethan from SMF edited them together into the Peyton whinefest that you see below.

I’m sure that Jeff Saturday is not at all surprised to see how Peyton’s football career began.

Indiana Loses Game, Announcer Todd Leary Arrested

todd-leary

Well, it was an interesting night down in Bloomington last night, and little did I know until this morning that the thrilling game between IU and Purdue was only a part of it.

Todd Leary, a former IU player under Bob Knight and the current announcing partner of Don Fischer, was arrested last night – 15 minutes before the IU-Purdue game was set to tip off – on “17 felony charges in connection with a scheme to misappropriate real estate title funds.”

Making the story even more interesting is that Leary’s former teammates Brian Evans, the Big Ten Player of the Year in 1996, cooperated in the investigation that ultimately led to Leary’s arrest.

Tomlison Won’t Take a Pay Cut

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to NFL.com, San Diego Chargers' RB LaDanian Tomlinson says he wants to return to San Diego, but will not take a pay cut to stay with the team. "It's never been about the money," Tomlinson said on 1090-AM in San Diego. "I love the game of football. It's all about being happy. Being happy and enjoying playing. That's the most important part to me. Also being happy and chasing that Super Bowl." Tomlinson is still under contract with the Chargers for another two years, so it would take a trade or being waived to end up some where else in 2010. Last year, he agreed to restructure the final three years of his deal and take a pay cut. He said Monday that he won't take another in order to stay with the Chargers.

Fantasy Impact: Tomlinson, who rushed for 730 yards on 223 carries, the least productive season of his nine-year NFL career. He had never rushed for fewer than 1,100 yards until this season.

Contract Extension in the Works for Brees

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to ESPN.com, the New Orleans Saints plan on extending Saints' QB Drew Brees' contract later this year in order to get him more in line with the other top quarterbacks in the NFL. Brees was the 17th-highest paid quarterback in the league this season, yet he finished second in the league in the MVP voting and led New Orleans to its first Super Bowl in franchise history. New Orleans considered extending Brees' contract last offseason, but opted to wait another year. Now that it has, the price only has risen. Should the Saints win Super Bowl XLIV, Brees practically would be able to name his price. Discussions on a new deal have yet to begin, but they will this offseason. A contract is expected to be wrapped up by the time the Saints report to training camp if not during it.

Edwards named as Bills’ Defensive Coordinator

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to Buffalo News, the Buffalo Bills have hired George Edwards as the team's new defensive coordinator. Edwards coached linebackers in Miami for the past five seasons. He left Miami a month ago to accept a position as co-coordinator at the University of Florida. However, his position at the university proved to be short lived. It's expected he will convert the Bills' defense to a 3-4 scheme, which is what Edwards coached with the Dolphins.

"Defensively, we will start from a 3-4 alignment, but we will do what we feel is best for our players to do," Edwards said in a statement released by the team. "We are not going to give anything away about exactly what we will do, but personnel will dictate what you can and what you can't do. As far as the initial alignment, the 3-4 is what we will start off with and we will adjust from there."

Marshall Content as a Bronco

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the Denver Post, Denver Broncos' WR Brandon Marshall says he is ready to go in the same direction as the team next season. "Learning from last year and last offseason, I approached things unprofessional," Marshall said today at the Super Bowl XLIV media center. "This offseason I'm just going to go with the flow and just go in whatever direction the Broncos want to go." "Last year I handled things totally wrong. I just looked at the business side of things and took things too personally. This year I'm going to remove myself from the situation and let the Broncos decide the direction we're going to go in as an organization."
